World Alzheimer’s Day is almost upon us and I am sure there is someone you may know that has a relative with Alzheimer’s or you may have one like I do. To help spread the word and awareness even more, you can host your own Purple Party anytime in September to helps the Alzheimer’s Association reach a goal of up to $1 million dollars that will be matched by the Harrah Foundation. If you did not know why they are called Purple Parties, it is because purple is the official color of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Some easy steps to host your own socially responsible Purple Party are to include some pre-party planning of a date/time that is most suitable for your guest list, determine a budget for the specific party you are interesting in throwing and set a minimum donation goal for each guest and/or a donation goal for the party itself. Handmade mailed invitations are always a nice touch but sometimes not so dependable so you might choose to use one of the World Alzheimer’s Day electronic Purple Party invitations.
Be sure to register your party with the Alzheimer’s Association. There, you can give them information about yourself, the goal you are setting and get an e-mail reminder sent to your guests. Once you register your Purple Party the first 500 people who pledge to raise $150 will receive a free party kit. Whether you are doing a formal dinner party, cocktail party or dessert party, always be sure to say “Thank You’ to your guests as they are leaving with a follow up thank you note. You never know how much these are appreciated once received.
