Will it ever End?

As I read the news from this morning I see that the Hollywood studios were trying to pacify the writers by giving them $130 million extra pay over a 3-year deal for the online content that we get to watch for free. What about the stuff online that we have to pay to watch? Do they get anything for those? What about DVD sales? If they can afford it I say stay on strike but this years seasons TV shows are already ending early which sucks. On the other side though, you have to wonder about the poor schmoes who just worked on the sets, where they working now?

Now for another question, what do these writers do since they are not getting paid and if they are not picketing anywhere? Are they still writing for the shows but keeping the scripts until it gets resolved? They could potentially have 2 seasons worth of scripts or maybe an actual season where we never have to skip any weeks for other stuff. What about the DVD sales for the seasons, they better be cheaper since it was a shortened season.

In regards to what are they doing when not on the picket line I was reading an interesting article about markets such as comic books and video games benefiting from the strike because a bunch of very talented TV people will start trying to write for those industries – that’s not to say that there aren’t already a bunch of really talented writers – there’s probably just going to be a whole bunch more!
