Why Is It…

That most everything was closed yesterday for Easter? People don’t get that as a holiday so why shut things down? I couldn’t go to the gym and was lucky enough that the grocery store was still open.

Now mind you not everybody celebrates Easter because either they believe in something completely different or they are like me and despise all holidays. Now why is it, which my good friend Red Monkey brought up is why they insist upon telling us Happy Easter and would perhaps get offended if you did not return in kind. And as such, people then ask you did you have a Happy Easter once it has been over with like I have been fielding on the phone today from parents and rather than go into how I despise holidays I just say fine and move the conversation along when really I’d LOVE to explain how holidays are just this commercialized hoopla where people expect things and perhaps then offend them. So you can’t win either way.

  1. I have to say that I have to agree with you. If I didn’t have a couple of small kids at home, I probably wouldn’t even celebrate Easter. But, they wouldn’t be very happy if there were no Easter bunny.
