They are supposed to head south, so technically that means they should be down here. I haven’t seen too many except for the usual finch-like birds and the doves around. I can only hope the finch does not make its nest in my herb hanging plant again this year like last year and I’m not even sure I will cover it this year just for that fact. That doesn’t mean I don’t like seeing the birds come through, just don’t like them camping out in my herb pots. They have plenty of food to eat though from the bird feeders. I’m not that creative so I just usually go to the store and buy the ones that hang which I put next to the plants. Maybe that is why they camp out in those pots. Close proximity to the food.
Sometimes I wish I could get hummingbirds to come around though. The old house I was growing up in we had some hummingbird feeders as well as a live plant that was just for the hummingbirds during the summer when it put out there fragrant flowers but where I am at now none can be found. Maybe if I put some of those feeders out I could start seeing them around next summer. The one good thing about these feeders is the fact that the squirrels will not bother with them. I have yet to come across any squirrel proof birdfeeders yet even though they claim to be squirrel proof. I swear my squirrels must be ruthless and will get that food no matter what it takes. You’d think the bountiful of acorns would be enough. Although I could be wrong because this one looks like they actually might have to put there paws in it and could possibly get stuck too. I love how some of the hummingbird feeders look though, quite pretty and that might help bring more hummingbirds to my area.
