I can't help but wonder why people must try to text and surf on phones while driving. Eventually all the states are going to be passing laws that it will be illegal to do this while driving as it should be because really it is a hazard due to the person not paying attention to the road. Evie is a voice-activated app for all the iPhone users that lets you say what you want to do such as call a contact, play a song, find a location, or god forbid listen to your Facebook feed. This way you can be driving and actually be paying attention to the road versus looking at your phone. Evie is free in the iPhone App Store for all the penny pinchers out there.

Evie works with your AT&T Navigator when you search for locations. Evie uses your current location and gives you voice commands to your destination. The app requires the use of a data plan and is 5.2 MB. If you have your iPhone set up to play through your speakers in the car Evie will also work. You can also use an A2DP bluetooth headset to talk to Evie. Everyone should have a bluetooth headset in their car anyway. Honestly, this sounds like a great app and I hope it gets developed for other platforms too so everybody has access to this application.

This is one of my pet hates. Someone hurt my cousin very badly in an accident because she was texting. In Australia it is illegal, except talking on hands free. Thanks for sharing this app.

We are Droid people rather than iPhone, but my husband uses a text to speech program on his phone. I just ignore texts and things until I reach my destination.
