Unfortunately it wasn’t something I wanted, needed or could use. Yep 6:00 AM I get up and put them out to do their thing and don’t bother putting in my contacts just yet. So then I go back to the back door to let them in and I see her go back to something black on the cement and pick it up to bring into the house. Well, she’s known to bring in bugs but this looked a bit bigger but I wasn’t about to go nose to nose with her to find out what it was so I kept thumping her snout until she let whatever it was loose because she doesn’t know what drop it means yet like my other dog. Went back in upstairs put on the contacts, took a shower and dressed. I figured whatever it was, it was either dead or could scurry away by this time. So in preparation I put on a surgical glove (ya I took some home sue me), grabbed a baggy and opened up the back door again. What should it be? A baby bird. Lord knows where she wrangled this up but it was dead by then and its almost a sure bet she did it. Now my cat did this sort of stuff when she was alive but she’d bring it to me alive instead of dead but a dog? I foresee this as one of the many presents she will be bringing into the home and think I’ll need to at least put my glasses on in the mornings now to see what she has hanging out of her mouth.

My pup surprised me with a dead frog a few weeks ago. She came back in from outside after doing her business and I saw her gnawing on something she had in her mouth. Told her “Drop”, and a flattened partially dried out dead frog dropped out of her mouth.
Ick.
