Most everybody I know has either DVRs or TiVos while I still bust out the VHS to tape 1 show at a time if need be although I haven’t done that in years because A. I never got around to watching the episode and B. the VHS is broken now but still plugged in because it would be too much work to undo it from the set up I have currently with the cable, DVD player, etc. It’s jacked up to say the least and I don’t even have a cable box. I’m way excited about the Fall TV line up but what ticks me off about the whole thing right now is that I won’t be able to catch most of the shows. Either they are on at the same time so I have to pick which one to watch for the entire season because I do not like watching one show one week and another show another week; or I just don’t have time because I am back in school again and slammed with homework since it pretty much all is homework since I do not physically go to class. They are all online classes. I was interested in checking out Hawaii Five-0, Undercovers, and The Defenders. Then my old favorites of course being Fringe and NCIS. I’m just glad the USA network and TNT has their new shows on the off season so they do not compete because I’d never catch up.

How many of you have a smartphone? Raise them hands because I can only imagine like maybe 5% do not. You have the Androids, the iPhones, and the Blackberries for the most part that everybody knows about and/or owns. I, myself, own a Blackberry 9700 and love it to death.

The problem most of us have is trying to find the best coverage, price, and amount of options we can get for the least amount of money. Having no contract is a bonus as well if you can find one. Using Boost Mobile gives you the freedom of using all the social networks and internet without worry of going over in data usage. You have seen how the companies are now having set plans each month. Not good in my opinion. I was lucky enough to get in on the unlimited before these started up. I receive all my RSS feeds on my phone, leave UberTwitter on 24/7 posting and reading, all my emails and surfing. Not to mention when I listen to Pandora. That’s a lot of data usage. Last month I had about 1000 SMS texts too and with football season starting up it will only become more as I get text messages during my Eagles matches because I cannot get the NFL network.

It pays to shop around and find the best coverage and plans you can find for the least amount of money. If a contract is an issue Boost Mobile is an option.

I have one of those bundles that include telephone, cable television, and cable internet. Keeps the rates down somewhat having them all from the same place. Well, I mentioned before that I was paying close to $150/month at one point when I saw ads on the TV that they were offering it for $75/month and I immediately called them to figure this out. Since I have been with them since 2001 they cut me a deal and I was getting $85/month with like $15-20 on top of that because I like an unlisted number and have phone insurance in case something happens with the phone. Well, I don’t use the house phone but very rarely. I have been waffling between keeping it and ditching it because I’ve had this number for like 15 or so years. Now if you go down one of the services usually your bill will go up a little bit because you aren’t using all three of them.

I bit the bullet and decided why should I pay for it when I don’t use it. I called them up and started the process and the guy asked why I was cutting that out and I told him because I very rarely use it. He says well what if we give you a discount and that intrigued me so I asked how much. He said $20 off per month for 6 months. I was like okay I’ll take that deal. So now its a base price of $65/month plus the other amount but I’m going to call them back and have the phone insurance taken off because at this point I don’t care if it breaks or not. Then in 6 months I’ll call them back again and get the phone taken off unless they want to give me another discount and/or extend this one.

I just thought of something though, I wonder if I could get the NFL Network this year and maybe use the $20 I’m saving to get that. I have to see if they are going to offer it again first because they weren’t at one point.

With school starting up in August and my desktop kaput it could become quite interesting to say the least. I am also hoping that my pell grant application goes through so at least two semesters will be paid for at 3 classes each semester. That is going to be a stretch for me in that I usually do two classes but if the moneys there might as well use it to its fullest potential and 3 classes per semester will cover just about the entire cost with a little left over to buy books. I was hoping there might be enough to rebuild my computer or at least be able to buy a new one using the discount from the hospital as well as Dell coupons. If I have to buy a computer already built I prefer Dell myself because I know their stuff is solidly built as I use one for work. I mean, I have a tablet too but it would be easier to do my work on a desktop.

That being said, buying the parts and building yourself could save you even more money as it is not a name brand computer. You have to be tricky though and find the Savings coupons for each part to get the lowest price. That in and of itself can take some time, time I don’t really have not to mention there is the money issue in that I don’t have enough either, hence the pell grant.

One of my friend recently went back to school as well since that seems to be the thing to do with all of this recession and she used one of the Savings HP coupon codes to get herself a new laptop. I guess to each his/her own when it comes to what to buy. But mind you I’ve, not her, but me, had to fix it because she decided to toss it on the floor and mess up the hard drive, which I ended up having to send back to get a new one. Learning lesson people, these things don’t bounce on floors and return with no side effects.

And you know what that means, vacation time. It just so happens that one of the nurses in the clinic is going to be heading to Las Vegas in a week or two staying at the Sahara if I remember correctly. I was there years ago for a friends wedding and stayed at the Stardust right before they tore it down. I’m not even sure what they replaced it with since I have not been back since. I love gambling and playing blackjack and/or poker are my favorite. Since I do not live anywhere near there I have to resort to playing online.

Of course, there are quite a collection of websites that will let you play Blackjack Online. Online Casino Spotlight is a resource that helps you decide which online casino best fits your needs. I’m not sure about some of you but I have always been one who needs a watch on them. I’m also one of those people who wear their watches with the face on the underside of the wrist. Now what really gets some people is the fact that I cannot stand womens watches. I buy mens watches and the chronograph ones like displayed to the right. I also like the gold/gold tone watches as well because I have never been a fan of the silver color. I bought my very own watch as a graduation gift to myself. No more of those cheesy plastic watches. It finally took a tumble into watch heaven when the manufacturer finally said we cannot fix this anymore a few years ago. Granted the warranty was for 10 years but I eeked it out to about 17 or 18 so I definitely think I got my moneys worth.

Seiko Automatic Watches can be excellent Christmas or birthday gifts but have you ever thought about Valentine’s Day? I did one year with my ex. He loved it. I ended up buying something almost exactly like the one I had myself except it was the silver/black color. I just need the date on the watch as well as the time and for it to be waterproof. I think it is way overdue for me to buy myself another watch since I have been without for so long. It aggravates me when I look at my wrist for the time and there is nothing there to look at so I have to drag my phone out to check it which in itself isn’t too terribly bad considering I’m never without it but I have to push a button to get it out of standby to view the screen and then back in standby so I don’t accidentally push any buttons when it is back in my pocket.
