As we get older we must become more aware of what we eat and be sure to exercise regularly. Not everybody can have those great genes with fast metabolisms. I know it sure as heck does not run in my family. Some years ago I went to our Weight Management division and got on their Slimfast study for 3 years which consisted of Slimfast protein bars, shakes, and protein powders. Lost just over 80 lbs and got down to almost 150 with counting how many calories I was eating as well as exercise. Since that study has been over I have slacked on my eating portions as well as what I eat and have gained some of it back. I can only blame myself. I am working towards getting it off again though.
Due to my back limitations now it is even worse as I cannot lift weights like I used to because it is very difficult to bend over into the proper positions. Taking a spinning class actually hurts as well when I have to sit in the seat for more than a few minutes and I usually end up in position 2 or 3 which is standing or over the handle bars for almost the entire hour. Running eliminates my back pain due to the endorphins and I now do that more often and for longer periods of time because I end up being pain free which is a nice feeling. I am still waiting for my orthopedics appointment which is in May for my steroid injection. If I don’t get that injection the same day I see them I’m going to go ballistic because this pain is horrendous and I do NOT like taking pain pills on a daily basis considering they only just take the edge off so most of the time I suffer because I won’t take them.
