Sponsored Lectures

I love it when we have sponsored lecturers. Not only are we getting an informative lecture but we get free dinner to boot. Now that’s nice especially when we go to some of the more prominent establishments downtown and essentially is free bar. Last time I got gypped on dessert because the person I picked up wanted to leave early. I want my dang cheesecake you know. Sure I know I don’t NEED it but dang it I WANT it and you know it’s the good stuff. This time we are going to High Cotton. I know y’all are jealous

Now this little event will be in a couple weeks and I can only hope that the weather is NOT going to be as cold as it has been this week. This is insane. And I saw on a news story yesterday about North Dakota at -50 with wind chill. Who WANTS to live in that kind of cold? Are you people insane? Do you hibernate during the winter? Do you have enough wood to burn because I can’t imagine the A/C-Heat units keeping the place warm. It would be running 24/7 I would imagine. The weather peoples keep saying that bad word of snow here and the schools are already going to start 2 hours late just in case. What wimps.

The Adventures in Hospitaland

Oh yeah, we are gonna be talking about the restrooms people. I just cannot comprehend why on gods green earth people have to be soo nasty when it comes to using the bathrooms at work. It being in a hospital makes it even worse and then you have to seriously think what the hail these buttwipes do in their own bathrooms at home. I call maintenance about the womens bathroom constantly due to people shoving their uneaten food down the sink drains and clogging them up to what I found today which I REFUSE to call about. I go in and there are 4 stalls. Now 1, the lock does not work so most people do not use it. One today had a hand written out of order sign taped to the door. Well of course, I want to know why so I open it. Some moron decided to put a towel in the toilet and try to flush it. Really?? You are that stupid to think a towel is going to get flushed? I mean sure these are some strong toilets but not for towels. :???:

We Need the Room, Get Out

I cannot believe how fast they kick you out after major surgery these days. I am not sure if it is because the insurance company doesn’t want to pay for it or if it is the fact that we are always short on rooms and you just get kicked out. One of our patients just got a new kidney on Tuesday and she is going to be discharged tomorrow. I remember back in the middle 90s when I actually worked on the floor they would stay a minimum of 2 weeks. Now it is just days. They get to go to a hotel room to stay for probably a week, if that, and then they are sent home to come to clinic 2-3 days a week for at least the first month until we get the medications at a stable level. I could understand some of them might actually feel okay and not want to stay in the hospital but I tell ya if it was me and I still felt like crap I’m not going anywhere.
