Cop Out

Now first off this is an R rated flick and I must warn you if you are one of those people who have issues with a lot of cursing this flick isn’t for you. There is a TON of cursing but it’s funny as heck to. Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan are brilliantly funny together. I can only imagine them having more fun making the movie than actually watching it.

The one part that got me to want to watch it was shown on the trailer when the cops stop this kid trying to steal a car. Morgan tells the kid to get out of the car and the kid asks is this because I’m black and Morgan is like no because your TEN to wit the kid kicks him in the groin. Too funny. Willis is standing at the back of the car laughing but it gets funnier when Morgan asks the kid who stole this one car they are after because he is one of the biggest car thieves in the area and when the kid refuses they threaten to tell his mother and then he starts singing.

I wonder if Willis likes playing those off the cuff cop persona’s because he has quite a list of them but all good in my opinion except for maybe the one where he ended up being a cop for the boat patrol. I wasn’t too fond of that movie.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians

A few weeks ago I went to see this movie. I’m still on a roll with taking my days off and coinciding with some good movies coming out. I almost forgot to post this review as I previously watched Cop Out this past Friday.

Well, as you may or may not have seen or guessed from the title and/or trailers it is man against the gods. Or rather a hybrid as it were as one parent was human and one parent was god. So we have Hades, Zeus, and Poseidon as the 3 brothers who happen to be gods. Poseidon’s son is accused of stealing Zeus’s lightening bolt and he gave a countdown on when it should be returned. Well, Percy Jackson is Poseidon’s son and he goes on this trek to ultimately save his mother who was taken by Hades and finds the lightening bolt along the way because Hermes’s son is the one who stole it.

I thought it was pretty good. I love Kevin McKidd as an actor (he played Poseidon) and only wish they had not canceled the series Journeyman. I still needs to buy that 1 series on DVD to have and watch again. I understand that some shows do not make the ratings cut but geez, why not have a vote on it.

Time to learn more food facts according to me. If you are not interested you can move along. As always be sure to check out Fun Craft and Recipes to join each week and to spread the news so others might join as well.

Somehow I missed last week? Hmm, must have been superbowl fever. My bad

1. What are your four favorite soups?

I’m not really a soup person, the broth may have something to do with it. I will make my own chicken soup though but there is hardly any broth in it as I make it full with chicken and vegetables and pasta.

I do like a good flavorful tomato soup though.

Ha, on time this week :)

1. Name four things you are planning on eating this weekend.

Well, the weekend, in my opinion, starts after work is over on Friday. So, chicken and vegetables for dinner tonight. Most definitely pizza or a sub on Sunday for the big game. Most probably some fruits and veggies on Saturday since I will be going to the store and will have stocked up on those. I think I might make some homemade tacos this weekend too so hamburger, lettuce, cheese, salsa. I always have yogurt too – Raspberry Cheesecake is yummy.

Social Security/Medicare Taxes

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010 | General with Comments Off

Had a question earlier today that I found interesting once I had thought about it. The question was after 8 years does this person stop paying into the social security/medicare taxes as he is a foreigner? As long as he still works here and draws a check he will always be paying into that no matter what.

Now my questions are two-fold essentially.

1. Since he is only here on Visa’s and not a US citizen and pays into the system. Should he manage to stay long enough to total enough time in the state system to obtain social security at age 65 or 68 as most say it is now would he get a check?
2. When we draw our social security, if there is any left, are we still paying social security/medicare taxes out of it?

I guess I have one more question, exactly how much money is being put into the social security fund by the visiting people from other countries? Shouldn’t it be enough to cover whatever loss we have been enduring?

Only one question this week.

1. Name four things you ate today.

Since it is the morning, the only thing I have had is Chocolate Cheerios with milk. They are new and they are the bomb! They don’t put out as much chocolate as Cocoa Puffs once you have eaten them all but quite tasty none the less.

Had I wrote this tonight, I would have mentioned the easy italian pasta bake I will be making later today. Recipe as follows:

1 lb. extra lean ground beef
3 cups whole wheat penne pasta, cooked, drained
1 jar (26 oz.) spaghetti sauce
1/3 cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese, divided
1-1/2 cups KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

HEAT oven to 375°F. Brown meat in large skillet; drain. Add pasta, sauce and 1/2 the Parmesan; mix well.

SPOON into 13×9-inch dish; top with remaining cheeses.

BAKE 20 min. or until heated through.

Special Extra
Brown meat with 1 tsp. Italian seasoning and 3 cloves garlic, minced.

Now my only problem is I don’t own a 13 x 9 pan so I guess my round Casserole bowl will have to do :)
