I self taught myself how to play piano when I was a child but sadly it was the wrong way because I had to remember the notes and then play them after I found the keys on the piano. The key is to pick out the piano lessons that best fit you and how much knowledge you already have of reading music and/or playing an instrument if not the piano. So get out there and learn to play piano like Elton John, Billy Joel or the every famous Ray Charles. I know I will never gt as good as they are or some of the classical pianist but I can surely play enough to keep myself happy.
