When Tempers Flare

03/30/2011 @ 11:03 PM | General with 2 Comments

Since I sit at my desk again more often now that it is in my room I’ve noticed a couple things I’ve done to this poor thing. It is separated in the seems more than originally due to the moving it because I was too lazy to empty it completely when I moved it. I’ve also noticed that the keyboard holder that slides under the desk is almost busted because I threw a fit years ago and took it out on that lol I’ve also managed to bust mice and keyboards which is why I usually have extras floating around. I don’t think I can find the keyboard I use anymore so I need to not break it. It is a Microsoft ergonomic multimedia keyboard in blue trim no less. Those were hard to find because I had a few of the black trim versions. I need to go buy a connector to make the end a USB port so I can plug that into my laptop and type on that to make it easier for me. I do love that keyboard.

Anywhoo, I took a spinning class tonight for the first time ever. I just was never interested in going to one of those and I now know the reason why. I feel like I have been run over a few times by a semi. I will go back though because it is a good work out but maybe not before I go buy the spinner shorts first. My butt may have padding but not where it needs to be :uhh:

Meet Me on Monday #40

03/28/2011 @ 7:34 AM | General with 7 Comments

I found this meme on another blog and tracked it back to the originator. There are some interesting questions and a great way to know me a little more. You can check it out at Meet Me on Monday Meme. Here goes…

1. Crunchy or soft tacos?
Soft taco gal here. Although I will get a crunchy taco every now and then.

2. Do you scrapbook?
Not a lick. I used to do cross stitch but haven’t had time for that either and the last time I tried the cat ate the thread :/

3. Do you take any daily medications?
Yep, it’s called birth control. No babies will be had around these parts.

4. What is your favorite sound?
Hmm, probably mowing grass because then my favorite smell is to follow.

5. Where were you born?
In a hospital of course. I’m not THAT old. In South Carolina if you want to get more specific.

Four Foods on Friday #138

03/27/2011 @ 12:45 PM | General with Comments Off on Four Foods on Friday #138

Time to learn more food facts according to me. As always be sure to check out Fun Craft and Recipes to join each week and to spread the news so others might join as well.

1. When you make burgers do you shape them yourself or use frozen?
I like to buy them already preshaped and preseasoned from the meat department at my local grocery store. I also get their meatballs and meatloaf when I find it 🙂

2. What kind of bread or roll is your favorite for burgers?
Hamburger buns work but definitely not regular bread.

3. What do you like on your favorite burger?
TONS of mayonnaise, ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles although I open it up and eat the pickles first. I just like them warm.

4. How do you like your burgers cooked?
Well done please, I’m not in the mood to get hemolytic uremic syndrome from undercooked meat.

One More Year

03/25/2011 @ 7:20 PM | General, Technology with Comments Off on One More Year

Just one more year and by next spring I should have my degree in hand. Honestly, the only way that that is possible is due to the fact that I can take online college courses. Having accredited online schools is probably the deciding factor for more people than we realize. Due to the hours I keep there is no way I have time to physically show up for classes much less be able to get all of my classes in the evening to begin with. I’d never have a life, not that I don’t have much of one now, but it will pay off in the long run once I get a better job and have a more stress free life. Plus with a lot of people being laid off from work this is the best opportunity to get back in school and obtain a degree because once you start applying for jobs they might pick people who have a degree instead of you.

The best thing about these online courses is that you can be accepted to essentially any college around the country and still obtain the same education for whatever degree you are pursuing. I happened to be lucky enough this and last semester to obtain a pell grant. The first couple years I was paying out of my pocket when I could because I refuse to get a student loan. I have already been approved for a pell grant this coming fall and spring too so that is a load off of my mind. Now I just have to buckle down and get things finished. I’ve been missing deadlines this semester for whatever reason. I’m so used to all assignments being turned in on Sundays and this one class requires assignments to be turned in on Fridays. I only have a month left so hopefully I can get my act together fast lol I did turn in all the assignments and just have left the second part to a project I think but that’s not due until the end of April I know for sure.

Dying Tree

03/23/2011 @ 11:00 AM | Nature with Comments Off on Dying Tree

Sometimes technology sucks donkey balls. I had this entire post typed out on my phone using WordPress for Blackberry, saved it and it never showed up anywhere. 😕

I have a black water chestnut tree in my backyard. I’m not that big a fan of chestnuts to say the least and black water chestnuts are hard to crack open. The dogs have fun playing with them when they fall off the tree and the squirrels try to open them up to get the nuts. The squirrels manage to the get the outer layer off and that’s it. I think that is the easier part because I’ve tried cracking one open one day.

Anywhoo, as you can see the bottom hole has been there ever since I’ve moved into this place over 10 years ago. Many large tree limbs have come down be it from dying or the severe weather we get. This other one I’m worried about. I’ve been hearing a woodpecker out back and I think this is his damage. It actually looks almost rotted at some points and it is very deep. I’m wondering if the entire tree could die from this at this point and because of how tall it is, it could potentially fall and nail my upstairs if it falls that way. There already is a pretty big limb hanging down right now that I can’t get down yet. I keep pulling and twisting the limb so it will let loose but some of it is still alive. Of course the limb is just out of my reach to cut it down too. I just don’t want it to crash down in a fit of wind with one of the dogs underneath it. I wonder if homeowners insurance would cover the removal of it since it could be potentially harmful to the home itself.

Meet Me on Monday #39

03/21/2011 @ 1:32 PM | General with 3 Comments

I found this meme on another blog and tracked it back to the originator. There are some interesting questions and a great way to know me a little more. You can check it out at Meet Me on Monday Meme. Here goes…

1. What jewelry do you wear 24/7?
Two sets of earrings, a necklace with my Tigger charm and a ruby pendant, thumb ring, ring finger ring that has diamonds and rubies. My other rings are just too big to wear. My dogs broke all my bracelets and I don’t wear my safire or ruby ones because the clasps don’t stay clasped. My watch has been broken for ages and yet I still flip my wrist up to look for the time.

2. Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it?
I’m a twirler, always have been.

3. How many siblings do you have?
1 twin, 1 brother. If you want to get down to it, both my parents remarried after we were grown so I technically have a half-brother on my stepfathers side and not sure about my stepmothers as I don’t think I’ve ever met the woman honestly.

4. Were you named after anyone?
Dunno really. I remember stories about a best friend but that could’ve been smoke.

5. Coke or Pepsi?
Diet Dr. Pepper unless they happen to bring back Diet Vanilla Coke
