Four Foods on Friday #121

08/15/2010 @ 2:05 PM | General with 1 Comment

Time to learn more food facts according to me. If you are not interested you can move along. As always be sure to check out Fun Craft and Recipes to join each week and to spread the news so others might join as well.

Share a meal or recipe that you could make using four ingredients. The four ingredients are:

* Potatoes
* Ground beef
* Green beans
* Soup, your choice of type

Sadly, I think I have already failed this. The only thing I could come up with is hash for the ground beef and potatoes. Then maybe some chicken soup and toss in the green beans and maybe some diced potatoes too.

Forgetful?

08/11/2010 @ 8:03 PM | Personal with Comments Off

I may need a week off from work after all the crap I keep forgetting. Today may have put it all in that perspective.

Recently I have forgotten to take a pen with me to clinic. I have forgotten to take my badge with me to clinic. I have forgotten to clock in. I have actually managed to leave my phone on my desk and was on my way home until I realized I had left it when I was in the garage. Today though, well I left my wallet at work. I thought it may have fell out of my bag as I do not keep hardly anything in there so I called my coworker to look on my desk and it was not there. So it is locked up in desk.

I’m beginning to think I will forget my head if It wasn’t already attached to my body. After forgetting all of that I wonder what else I have forgotten to do now and you know the sad thing? I haven’t a clue so if I have forgotten something it is beyond me at this point.

Friend or More?

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of MeetLocals.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

Okay, I admit it, I signed up with a popular website looking for someone. I mean it is the age of technology right? Filling out an extensive questionnaire could give some good results. It actually did to0, sort of, but we won’t go there now. I just don’t go bar hopping anymore. I cannot understand how people still do that actually at my age. It is just too loud and smoke filled.

I caught an episode of Bones one night where a couple of the lab techs were members of this online dating site, as it were, but they got this message on their phones with a picture with I believe a yes or no button. So if you chose to you could meet the person as they were in the same vicinity which I thought was great. Everybody these days as some sort of smartphone so it would be ideal.

Now I never watched The Hills on MTV because the show did not really interest me. Of course it might also have to do with the fact that I haven’t watch MTV since liquid television got shut down. Apparently two of the actors from that show started a couple of adult dating sites which include Meetlocals.com and Shop4Guys.com. I’m all for checking out new dating sites so long as the profiles are not outrageous looking. You know the ones where they think they are all that and put up some half naked picture of themselves. Those are the profiles you avoid like the plague. I haven’t had much luck but have found a few new friends in the process and that’s pretty good. I usually can tell on the first “date” whether it will work or not. Then you just have to be up front to the person so they will not get attached. Stringing people along is just wrong so be mindful of others feelings.

College Tuition

@ 9:18 PM | General with Comments Off

We had gambling as it were with video poker which I liked playing personally. The state got rid of it because it was gambling “oh my”. Then they decided the lottery would be a good idea and would help out education with money coming in. Hello people this is still gambling.

What were the results? I saw the lottery pay for my tuition in full ONE time. Not anymore. They hiked up the tuition like it was out of style. We have the unlucky pleasure of having the highest tuition rate in the south. No wonder most of the kids these days are going to Georgia and North Carolina for their education.

Classes are about to begin and I’m still waiting for the college I’m finally back to finish my degree to get with me about my pell grant. I mean really. I can’t go without that sucker and I gave them everything they needed including some blood :/

Shades in the South

08/06/2010 @ 6:46 PM | General with Comments Off

If you live down here in the south you cannot go without a pair of sunglasses. I claim that the sun is brighter down here than it is up north so sunglasses are a must. What irked me when I was wearing my glasses is the fact that I did not have any prescription sunglasses as well to swap out. I mean buying a pair of glasses alone was expensive and when you have 3 people in a family needing them it adds up. Having blue eyes makes it worse though and we NEED the sunglasses so we can actually see out there in the bright big world.

I personally like the set shown here and have some shades now that look almost like that but with brown lenses although I would prefer the blue lenses more. Had we had options to obtain durable but cheap prescription sunglasses I’m sure we’d have had a pair or three because we all know kids can be harsh on their eyewear. Transitions lenses actually would be the best option but again expensive is the name of that game. These are way better than what some of my friends do and that is buy those shades that just go over top of your own glasses and to be honest it looks horrible when they do that.

Baking is a Hazard

08/02/2010 @ 9:50 PM | General with Comments Off

So over the weekend I decided to make some banana bread since I have not done so in ages and I had 3 very over ripe bananas just begging to be mushed. Now normally I do not put any nuts in my banana bread but I figured since I had a 3 lb bag of almonds I might as well use a cup of them to put in the mixture. I got out my mini chopper and let it whirl.

Once the bread was in the oven I started cleaning up because I just don’t like having dishes in the sink especially those kind where they cannot go into the dishwasher or I just don’t like to put them in to be cleaned. Either way I got to the mini chopper blade and was cleaning it when one of the blades slices my thumb open. Blood everywhere but I figure I might as well finish cleaning these dishes before putting on a band-aid and just wrapped it in a paper towel until I got done. Well, it was still bleeding pretty profusely so I slapped on a band-aid really tight without taking off the skin that was just flapping about and this is what I have now until it falls off because the skin is dead. If I try to pull it off it will start bleeding all over again so here you have it.

By the way, the banana bread is awesome! Thumbs up from me :grin:
