1. What are your four favorite soups?

I’m not really a soup person, the broth may have something to do with it. I will make my own chicken soup though but there is hardly any broth in it as I make it full with chicken and vegetables and pasta.

I do like a good flavorful tomato soup though.

Superbowl 2010 Ads

okay peeps, what was your favorite? what was your worst? Did you even watch last night? The half time show was a bore. The Who, they keep bringing in the older crowd after that wardrobe malfunction with Janet Jackson. I hear they want to book The Eagles next year. Now that group I could get behind listening to.

Anywhoo, some of my favorites were in no particular order except to say that of course Budweiser was my absolute favorite with the Clydesdale’s. The entire set of commercials can be found here.

TruTV Polamalu commercial. I thought this was fricken awesome.

Coca-Cola commercial. This one beat the Simpsons one hands down. I hate the Simpsons.

Vizio commercial The groundhog was cute.

And now the best commercial of them all is Budweiser commercial.

You know there was also a Snickers one I liked with Betty White but it doesn’t seem to be listed. Odd.

Cryo-Cell Helps Haiti Relief Fund

02/05/2010 @ 9:30 PM | Health with Comments Off

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Cryo-Cell International. All opinions are 100% mine.

Cryo-Cell has been open since 1992 preserving newborns umbilical cord blood for potential uses in fighting diseases later on in life whether it is the person it came from or a sibling. Until recently it has always been discarded. We did not know that there was a need for it until research scientists discovered it was a source for stem cells which can be a substitute to bone marrow (which is a painful process to harvest if needed). Stem cells are a perfect match because it essentially was part of that person in utero. Now it might not be useful in all diseases so it will all depend on the situation. If you choose to harvest this blood, you can rest assured that there is a facility that will keep it which is Cryo-Cell.

If you enroll now with Cryo-Cell they will donate $25.00 from each enrollment to the “Save the Children: Haiti Relief Fund”. I’m sure you have been hearing the news about the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti and this is another way of helping out. Every little bit that can be gained is worth it so that they can rebuild for a better and brighter future. This is only going on through February with Cryo-Cell but you can always donate to the fund.

Ha, on time this week :)

1. Name four things you are planning on eating this weekend.

Well, the weekend, in my opinion, starts after work is over on Friday. So, chicken and vegetables for dinner tonight. Most definitely pizza or a sub on Sunday for the big game. Most probably some fruits and veggies on Saturday since I will be going to the store and will have stocked up on those. I think I might make some homemade tacos this weekend too so hamburger, lettuce, cheese, salsa. I always have yogurt too – Raspberry Cheesecake is yummy.

Social Security/Medicare Taxes

02/03/2010 @ 8:55 PM | General with Comments Off

Had a question earlier today that I found interesting once I had thought about it. The question was after 8 years does this person stop paying into the social security/medicare taxes as he is a foreigner? As long as he still works here and draws a check he will always be paying into that no matter what.

Now my questions are two-fold essentially.

1. Since he is only here on Visa’s and not a US citizen and pays into the system. Should he manage to stay long enough to total enough time in the state system to obtain social security at age 65 or 68 as most say it is now would he get a check?
2. When we draw our social security, if there is any left, are we still paying social security/medicare taxes out of it?

I guess I have one more question, exactly how much money is being put into the social security fund by the visiting people from other countries? Shouldn’t it be enough to cover whatever loss we have been enduring?

Where’s the Speed?

@ 1:33 PM | Technology with Comments Off

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Charter. All opinions are 100% mine.

2 Most recently since my desktop is all jacked up I have been using the tablet to assess the interweb. Oh joy what fun, not. First, the thing can only go so fast with a 1 GHz processor, #2, I’m on wifi with max speeds of 54 Mbps on the router so it says but we all know that’s a lie, and #3, my modem keeps recycling. I had finally had enough of that and called them when I couldn’t get it back online no matter how many times I unplugged the blasted thing. You want to know what they told me? My modem is dead/dying. Bull, because I actually thought of that and bought a brand new one which did the same thing. I ended up sitting on the phone with them for a good half hour to an hour while they “diagnosed” the problem. I wanted to stop waiting and get going but they were my hold up. They finally got it “fixed” and gee, the thing doesn’t recycle anymore either. I swear I need other options to choose from but I am almost stuck with these guys because the other only option in my area is bad, bad, bad.

I keep looking for how close Charter is to me but they aren’t quite there yet. For what I am paying now a month I could get their up to 5 Mbps plan and still come out ahead. I should probably go to Charter’s Facebook page and bombard them with posts whining that they need to expand faster but that might be rude lol
