One More Day

Man, talk about your bad days. First I had an appointment and needed to get some blood drawn and the nurse took 2 stabs in the same are with no results. Then she wanted to try for a vein in my hand but with 6 tubes of blood I don’t think so. Then she looked at my other arm, no go. Now I wasn’t watching her the first stick and when I glanced over realized she went in straight instead of slanted because my vein veers off to the right and I told her so on the next go round. Then I had to get another nurse to draw it right above where she poked 2 holes. UGH…

Then in clinic we had to send off 1 kid to the ICU and 1 other kid to the floor. What was funny was the fact that the child who went to PICU, our own Meducare came to pick him up because he was a critical and they brought in this huge adult stretcher and the child was only a wee little 3-month old. lol We didn’t get out of clinic until almost 3 PM!! The last kid was scheduled at 11:30 as it only half days on Thursdays.

Ouch!! Sounds like we’re related because drawing blood for me is also an unpleasant experience. Very seldom does the nurse hit pay dirt with the first needle jab.

Most of my relatives are either nurses or have professional careers related to the Healthcare industry. Since my Mom is an RN, I spent most of my time in or around hospitals.

What you do isn’t easy. As a sign of respect, I tip my hat to you for being an “angel of mercy.”
