Old Age

So I’m doing a couple of hours of work today and come across a dictation with an 86 year old lady. Now your thinking, 86 she’s got to be barely getting along at that age. Not so in this case. This lady is in the picture of good health with only a few minor problems and goes on hikes with her grandchildren…yes grandchildren. She also works out with weights and a treadmill four times a week. She still drives her car and lives alone with huge family dinners at her house once a week that she prepares.

I can only hope that I’m in this good of health and spunky at that age.

At my work I meet older people with many physic’s or cognitive diseases so when I find “sometimes”, people and situations more or less like the one you explain I have the same wishes or thoughts.

Old not mean, pain, solitude, sadness…..

It’s great to see and feel “life” in elderly people. I hope the first step to get this is to realize it.

BTW, cool comment scheme. Did you download it somewhere? (I’m using haloscan right now.)
I love your photo across the top! I’m an artist/writer. who often takes photos as references for paintings, although I began to post some photos on my blog, too.
Like Ubaga, above, I’ve worked with “older” people and known them all my life so I don’t think that about “age 86”, but you’re so right, many people do! (Many do about 66!). Geriatrics is an area many need more exposure to. Nice experience for you and good post. 🙂
