Acting Balance has started a new Monday Quiz.

The Rules: I’m going to ask FOUR QUESTIONS that everyone can answer and then you have the option to add a fifth question of your own for those who are visiting your blog to answer in the comment section, along with commenting on the four standard questions you answered!

Acting Balanced

1. Finish this sentence – The last book I read and enjoyed was….
So many to choose from that I can’t really say. I can say for sure the one I just finished yesterday wasn’t all that great which was by Bernard Cornwell called Last Kingdom.

2. Do you have special Victoria Day (Canadian) or Memorial Day (US) traditions? If you don’t live in Canada or the US, what is the next holiday that you are celebrating where you are?
No traditions here. I take the day off because it is a state holiday but do nothing. I do not like celebrating holidays really.

3. If you could invent something to make your life simpler, what would it be?
Hmm, not really sure. Maybe a simpler way to grow vegetables to where I won’t kill them? I’ve quite enjoyed having my lettuce bowl on the back porch.

4. What is your favorite recent blog post?
I can’t really say that I have a favorite recent other than the Awww…Mondays I view every Monday 🙂

And your question is:

Are you ready for Hurricane Season if you live in the path of any hurricanes? Apparently it is starting early again this year.

I recently finished Jenneration X by Jen Lancaster. I loved it.

Thankfully we’re not in the path of hurricanes in Ohio, though we do occasionally get residual winds and storms. At this point, a little rain would definitely cool things off a bit…it’s 80, and it’s still MAY!!!

I read one of Cornwall’s books, the first one in that series (can’t remember the name). I love that era of history so that part was great. But books today have too much sax and violins, so that was a real downer.

I don’t do much for holidays, either, although the kids like to do special stuff.

Whoops, I forgot to answer your #5 question!

I hate hurricanes. My area has become very prone to flooding in the past 15 years, so any time I see we’re getting a storm, a little part of me whimpers inside. I watch the forecast very carefully, and if we expect more than an inch of rain, we prepare for flooding. I’m not even in a flood plain, for crying out loud!

We were on vacation in Western New York with plans to co farther east last fall that got changes by the hurricane. So, this year, we plan to be in North Carolina next month with early hurricane activity this year. Maybe we should go to Iowa next time!

You should try an AeroGarden. They can green any thumb. I have one and it works great.

Never ready for hurricane season! Fortunately we’ve been lucky here in SC and haven’t gotten much of anything the past several years.

I am in hurricane path, but I’m not quite prepared yet. I’m working on it, and praying that we don’t get hit this year. Ike was terrible.
