Medals from School Abroad

Our family moved to Frankfurt when I was little due to my father being in the military. That happens with every military family at one point or another, some more so than others. We only had to make one big move and off to Germany we went. I have been reading a lot of posts about 5K’s whether they were walking or running and decided to toss in what I received. I know we did some walking/running events and I believe these came from those events but it was so long ago I could be wrong. There seems to be one from almost each year going from 1977-1981 though. One does not have a date so I’m not sure which year that came from but one is from 1977, 1980 and 1981. The one without a date apparently is from the school we attended while on base. Needless to say they had very interesting prints on them and I really could not tell you why they were chosen or what some of them might mean. One is obviously indicative of some of the castles they have around Germany and one is definitely school related. I guess you could put the da Vinci one as school related to but I’m not sure how. The circular one is definitely a march. What we were marching is another clueless guess. I guess the important thing is I still have them and have them wrapped up in this weird handkerchief with a blue border shoved into a plastic bag which is in a tin.

Those are beautiful! We almost went to Germany but Dad’s orders got changed. That was back in the 1960’s. I must be older than you!

The medals are definitely really cool. Like Karen, I think I am older than you too :).
