I watch a lot of Food Network TV, I mean A LOT. I love when they have the contests with the pies and cakes because the people become so inventive. How some people enter 7 and 8 recipes at a time and actually get them all done I’ll never know but the object is to win that elusive first prize so they can renovate their kitchens. I know mine could do with some renovating but I’m just a renter and it is not up to me. That being said you can head up to Branson Missouri during April to enter the Great American Pie Contest. I wonder if cheesecake would be considered in that contest. I dearly love cheesecake.

Now, I have never been to Branson myself but they seem to have quite a few activities to do if you are just tagging along with your significant other who is entering the contest. Now one of my family members is all up into that pro bass fishing which Branson seems to have a tournament for. Then a few of my friends just go nuts over basketball like I do with football. Now neither one of those activities interest me but they do have something that I would enjoy which is their museums and theme parks. I would just have to find a buddy who is not so chicken as to not get on any of the rides because it really is boring if you cannot enjoy those rides with a friend.

Back to the pie contest though, which I’m sure you are dying to know more about, happens from April 24-25 at the Branson Convention Center which just so happens to be convenient to the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel and Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing. Some of the prizes that you could win includes $2500 cash, plus a trip for two in Branson. That’s not the best part though, Al Roker is going to be there and I can only assume he would be giving out the prizes after sampling a few recipes of course. Make sure you get your accommodations set up now because the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel has graciously blocked off a section of rooms from April 20-29, 2009 just for the contest at a discounted price until March 22, 2009.
