Just Got Back from the ER

Yep, I was the victim of a drive by bug attack which flew right into my left ear and I couldn’t get to the ER fast enough!! Luckily I got triaged right when I walked in so they put some lidocaine in my ear to stun the bug but I had go to back to the nurse to get more because I could still feel and hear him buzzing around in my ear. I didn’t even have to wait too terribly long like last time which was a plus. I also got lucky enough that they did not have to use alligator forceps to go into grab the bug and have the possibility of damaging my eardrum because the freaking bug must have floated to the top and he got it with a Q-tip. Now let’s review what I got out of it.

One bug out of my ear.
One prescription for Cortisporin drops to my ear.
One ugly wrist band with all my info on it which I still need to cut off.
One bill that will most likely be $700.00 like last time even though I have insurance.

I love your new template! It’s awesome!

I’ve never had a bug in my ear, but reading your post made my ears itch and hurt like crazy… Medical bills over there sound outrageous. You should join us over here in Canada…

Tks guys RE the template, Beth did it 🙂 I just have to figure out why the music plugin is messing up the boxes which is why I have it all the way at the bottom right now.

As for the medical bills, I think everybody has a better system in place than we do. That’s not even going to cover my follow up after all of this just to make sure it healed okay because I was pulling at it pretty hard and stuff because it irked the hell out of me. It’s alot sore and a little red.

I can’t say I’ve ever had a bug fly in my ear-and I grew up in the country. My mouth yes-not sure which would be worse. I had a trip to the ER several years ago for a panic attack-of course I had no idea what it was at the time, but $500 and 1mg of Xanax later they told me.

Ya its amazing how much they stiff you for when it’s not during “normal business hours”. The last time I went to the ER was for a steroid shot because I was having an allergic reaction and I’m allergic to Benadryl.

I randomly looked at an old blog post of mine from over a year ago and read the comments, including yours. (My favorites list crashed a while back.) So nice to have found you again! 🙂 Happy 4th of July to you!

Oh, what an ordeal with the bug and a whopping bill, but the ER is always expensive. Glad you’re OK! I have a degree in audiology so this is not an unusual incident to me, but being the patient is no fun at all! As Allergy Queen, I can relate. Benedryl is one of the very few meds I’m not allergic to. (I’m even allergic to bandaids, adhesive- need to use paper tape which never stays on.)

Yick! Now I am going to be itching in my ear all day. LOL

I have never had a bug fly into my ear, but I can imagine it is very uncomfortable.

Thanks for commenting on my blog today. Come on over again soon.
