Wanted to add to your family but are unsure as to which breed would be the best fit? Well I personally am a fan of picking up the strays/orphans found in the oddest places (hence Stormy), dogs getting ready to be put in a garage sale (hence Pepper) and the rescuing from the SPCA. I can tell you that just from that alone there are a ton of dog breeds to choose from. However, you can always find a reputable breeder for the purebred you are looking for. Whether you live in an apartment, house or have plenty of land a best friend can be had so long as you take good care of them.
Now the question is where can you go to do the research for the dog breeds you are looking for. Well at breederretriever.com of course. They have a list of dog breeds from A to Z which are very informative about the breeds themselves. Take the German Shorthaired Pointer for example. This is a very active and playful breed and needs lots of exercise but is a bit high strung for little children. This is know from experience when I have friends over who bring their little children. However, I find that the watchdog section was clear across the board as a positive. I must’ve have gotten a dud dog then because she’d just as soon watch pine straw fly through the air then anybody coming into or around the yard or house unless it is another animal. Now I did find out she was a lover of water which it states in there as well as she would climb in and out of the pool herself to go for a swim and then ended up with swimmers ear one time. I did not know they could get that too and have to clean her ears out just as mine when we get done swimming.
Each section has such in depth information about the breed, general health maintenance, temperament, more pictures of the breed, caring for and even history of the animals that while you might have been thinking about one breed you actually come out with a better knowledge of many more breeds and have more choices on which to choose from. I cannot imagine you would need more information than what has been so elaborately written down but should that be the case, there is a forum section from which you can illicit help. If you are positive about the breed, there is a breeder directory for you to get into contact with as well.
