So I was chatting with my boss yesterday while in clinic when he was telling some residents and myself about when he used to dress up for Halloween as well as the other residents and physicians here. One year he dressed up as some weird person with a mask on but they knew it was him but he refused to speak and would just nod his head yes or no and it ended up freaking the other people out because he wouldn’t speak.
Then a resident decided to dress up as one of the sandmen from the Star Wars movies back in the late 80s. He got a beige cloak with a hood, got a black cover for his face and managed to get two mini lights to show for his eyes. He ended up having to take the mask off because he scared the kids shitless and a lot of them ended up crying they were so scared. I can’t say as I remember the last time the physicians dressed up around here.
Now when I was living in Germany we would go trick or treating on base and everybody got into dressing up as well as the apartment buildings would try to outdo the next one. There were a few of the buildings I refused to even go into because it was so freaking scary. These were the old time buildings where you have big spiral staircases. I remember one year our building had a coffin with a human mummy who would pop up when the kids got close. Cob webs and fake spiders everywhere as well as fake fog. You don’t see that over here anywhere.
You ever scared kids that bad either on purpose or by accident because your costume was that good?

I wish we had the same Halloween traditions, but unfortunately we don’t have trick or treat in the Philippines and costume parties are not customary either.
