I wonder what if anything will happen on this fearful day. I myself, don’t hold much in the way of superstitions but I know there are quite a few folks out there who believe all of that mumbo jumbo and probably dont even step foot outside their domiciles on a Friday the 13th. What makes people believe 13 is an unlucky number? Just because it’s odd? Heck, lets be fearful of the 7th then instead of the 13th. There’s an odd number for you and it’s even a prime to boot as well.
All throughout history people have been fearful of this number 13 with connotactions such as if you have 13 letters in your name you have the devils luck or that its the “Devils Dozen” and if you sit down to dinner with 13 people all will die within the year. That’s just like people avoiding anything with 666 on it. On the otherhand you could call 13 a bakers dozen as it is known in the cooking world. Nothing scary about that is there?
Seriously folks…its a number, an odd number but a number just the same. A number can’t hurt you but the people who spew untold horrors at you might scare you into believing something that’s possibly not true. Resist the urge to be fearful I say and stamp out the idiocy of this odd numbered day!!

Not to mention, why Friday? Why not be afraid of Monday the 13th? I mean, 13 is and oldie, but the Friday part? Where did that come from?
I did an entry on this today. And I found an article about Friday the 13th
But in Judaism, thirteen is a GOOD number. And the superpatriots should remember there are 13 stripes on that flag they love to wave in our faces!
I saw a TV show that stated that the reason Friday the 13 is unlucky was because there was a massacre of Knights Templar on that day. Whether it’s true or not, I don’t know.
My daughter was born on Friday the 13th so for me, it’s a GREAT day
BTW – I love all three of your blog designs. Very you !

Well I went digging around about the Knights of Templar and they did indeed die on the 13th (13 October, 1307) to be exact found at http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/14493a.htm
I still think people hold too much into it though.
tj: Always a good day when children are born healthy

Personally, I LOVE Friday the 13th. It’s always been a good luck day for me.
What do they say about making your own luck?
I agree with you regarding the number. Personally, I’ve always liked Friday the 13th. I think it helped that Mr. Rogers had a puppet named King Friday the 13th on his TV show.
