I’ve Been Scammed

I was super duper excited when I saw this 10 second clip. I thought hells to the ya another Ferris Bueller movie with them all groweded up.

I mean who wouldn’t think that right? RIGHT?!?

Here’s the full length commercial you will see during the SuperBowl and when I saw it I knew I was scammed.

Considering SuperBowl ads this year are between $2.6-2.8 million for a 30 second slot and this is almost 2 1/2 minutes. I’d say it was welllllll worth it. The bear moving back and forth in the seat is fricken hilarious.

And for the puppy lovers and Star Wars fans, this ones for you!! It’s called The Bark Side.

More Mishaps at the College

Here’s today public safety notice. I’m beginning to be thankful I don’t usually physically go to classes or have friends like this lol

I mean, really, who would WANT friends like this. It is insane. It looks like while one car was being stolen in the Romeo lot this was happening about the same time in another lot.

On Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at approximately 2:00 pm, a student was allegedly robbed at gunpoint inside his vehicle by the passenger who was a known acquaintance. The incident occurred in the parking lot behind Building 800. The victim alleges that the robber stole $220 in cash, an iPhone valued at $400, and a commemorative knife valued at $500. It has not been determined if the alleged robber is a TTC student. Since this incident allegedly occurred between two individuals who knew each other, there does not appear to be an on-going threat to the remaining public. An active criminal investigation is being conducted by Public Safety.

College E-mails

Every now and then I get e-mails from public safety at the college. They usually send these in mass e-mails even if some of us never step foot on campus for a class. I got a good chuckle out of todays. I mean, I feel sorry for the guy who’s car got stolen but who drives around in a car looking like this on purpose??

Today, at approximately 2:00 pm, Public Safety received a report that a student’s 1985 Burgundy Buick Electra 300 was stolen from the “Romeo” parking lot adjacent to Building 410. The vehicle is described as having a South Carolina license plate, 22 inch chrome rims, a San Francisco 49ers helmet decal on the hood, and a San Francisco 49ers license plate on the front.

Maybe they were die hard 49er fans?? Or maybe they hated the team so much they wanted the car to damage it?? Who knows but as it is a 1985 they MAY not be going far in it since it’s so old.

Prescription Fiascos

As a medical hospital employee I have spent my fair share on hold with pharmacies and insurance companies trying to get prescriptions to go through patients insurance plans. I happen to be well versed in dealing with Walgreens and Express Scripts . The battle over brand and generic medication rages on everyday because there will always be a difference in opinion of how well a certain brand medication will work verses the generic medication. It all boils down to money though. The insurance companies want to pay the least amount but then you have companies as middleman, ie Express Scripts, that are the go between the insurance companies and the pharmacies and the middleman ends up with the profit.

As of December 31, 2011 Walgreens is no longer part of the Express Scripts Program essentially due to greed and a failure to compromise. Ultimately, though, they are not seeing the big picture which is that they should be helping to ease the financial burden on patients whether it be low cost medication or ease of obtaining said medications at a local pharmacy. Walgreens offered to not increase rates but Express Scripts was having none of that.

Tricare is the insurance that the military uses which is also being affected. Walgreens even offered to separate the Tricare business from the commercial business but that offer was declined as well. I know understand why I have been calling complete medication lists for patients to new pharmacies that have Tricare insurance being serviced by Walgreens. This ends up being undo worry for parents and patients and extra work for the doctors office personnel.

Walgreens is fighting back in a sense though. They are offering their own prescription benefit plan that is affordable for humans and pets if you can believe that. Promotion price for the Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens is $5.00 for individuals and $10.00 for families (immediate family including spouse, dependents 22 and younger, and pets). This promotion price is from January 1 through 31, 2012 for new memberships and renewal memberships. You must not be receiving Medicare, Medicaid, or other federal or state health care to apply for this savings club. Walgreens is offering savings on more than 8,000 medications including discounts for diabetic supplies, nebulizers, pet prescriptions, and flu shots.

Back to School

So classes started yesterday. I’m already not feeling it this semester. I actually have to physically show up to one class because it is not offered solely online. It is a mixed mode which means some of it is in the classroom and some of it is online. Okay no problem. Found a class that is after work and is only 1 day a week. I go to said class tonight which is from 6 PM to 7:21 PM. Sit down, log in, check my other classes online waiting on the instructor. 10, 15, 20 minutes go by. Still no instructor. One of the students goes across the hall to see if the instructor is in his office. No instructor. I leave by 6:30 PM. Now, online where you register for classes it is showing that the class is closed which means canceled.

One of my other classes requires a prerequisite that I do not have as there were technically 3 options and I have 2 of the requirements done but the instructor was specifically looking for this one class so I have emailed him and am awaiting a response to see if I need to swap classes. I need to get this done before the 20th as I cannot obtain more books on my grant after that.

Then, as I technically can graduate this semester so long as I complete 3 courses including an economics course which I know I will despise I am thinking of doing a double major and now need to talk with my advisor to find out how I can make sure the classes I have already taken can go toward that other degree as well and still graduate this spring.

Christmas Sickness

So my boss was ill on Monday and could not get anyone to cover for him in clinic. I was with him all day Monday. I caught his illness :/ It started coming on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and by Wednesday night I thought I had been run over by a truck. I’m spewing brown phlegm now so hopefully this means it is going away. Just wish the coughing would stop because I feel like I have to pee every time I cough now. Nothing like being sick over the holidays *not*

I’m not sure the weather is helping any either since we have been having high 70s. Yesterday was actually 79. I had the back door open all day long. I opened the back door up this morning too when the dogs wanted out again around 9 AM. It’s still open and I don’t fore see it closing until it gets dark either. I’m staying housebound again today as I still feel like crap although I really want some orange juice so I may run out one time to pick some of that up as well as milk.

Hope you guys don’t get sick over the holidays.

Star and angel if I remember correctly growing up.

Not particularly.

Well, initially I was excited to be going to the Bahamas for Christmas but that got kabashed.

Used to be Christmas morning, however I open them when I get them now.

Old Things

So this weekend I FINALLY did my Christmas shopping. As a matter of fact, most of it last night because I’m that slack.

I ordered one gift online last week which got shipped to a coworker yesterday while she was on her way to Georgia for her nephews graduation from Georgia Tech so I picked it up on my way home so no one would steal it.

Last night I hit up Wal-Mart for a gift card because that is what my coworker wanted for Christmas (I asked her). I don’t like guessing at things. Usually I get her a Kohl’s gift card.

My other coworker I usually get gift cards or if Avon puts out a special Christmas Barbie I will purchase one of those because she has been collecting them since she was a little girl and has amassed quite a collection which is insured there are so many and quite expensive now due to some of them being so old and in perfect condition. Anywho, I happened upon the B&N website and lo and behold they were offering a Christmas Barbie so I immediately bought it for her and it will be shipped this week.

Two of the physicians I usually buy wine for unless I can find some good Giants garb for one of them which I never scouted this year so they both get a bottle of wine.

Our nurse in the clinic I bought an O’Charley’s gift card from me and a coworker.

Now my boss is always difficult to figure out. He LOVES any electronic essentially. More gadgety more the better. I was unsure what to get him aside from the usual $10 iTunes gift card because he has everything Apple. Upon researching Hoth Cocoa which had Chewbacca I ended up on thinkgeek.com and found a cool iPad joystick so I bought that for my boss and will have to tell him NOT to use the gift card until he gets the package.

Anywhoo, what does all this have to do with the picture of my teeth? I went digging in my closet for the umpteen amount of Christmas cards I have to put the gift cards in and a scarf i’ve been missing and wanted to wear. So unpacking box after box I found an impression of my teeth that was done immediately after I got my braces off back when I was 16/17 years old. The top still look the exact same way but the bottom one does not. One of the teeth have turned inward a bit because I stopped wearing the night guards a LONG time ago. Probably almost immediately after I got the braces off because I didn’t care. Still don’t either. I found some of my old cross stitch stuff I had done. I also found the scarf *bonus*
