Why are some of the commercials we are burdened with suck so much? Do the advertisers honestly think we believe them? Take the one I have been seeing lately. It is some home security commercial where the mother and daughter come in from playing outside and set the alarm to make dinner. Then, an intruder bursts through the glass door they just came in from and were beyond shocked and scared. Then immediately upon the alarm going off the security people called to find out if everything is okay. What a crock of s**t.

Nobody in their right mind is just going to stand there while the alarm is going off #1, #2 the intruder is not really going to care about the alarm either if he is that close to the person in my opinion, and #3 having some ahole from the security company calling to see if you are okay is seriously a joke.

Finally with Christmas over I won’t have packages on my front porch anymore from lack of an address sign. Living in an apartment complex might be better since they actually have the apartment numbers on the door. Not here though. I live in a duplex so it looks like a house but there is an A and B section. I could have sworn there were an A and B sign on the place at one point but they may have gotten tossed when the new siding went up. Kinda annoying at times though. When I order pizza I have to look out for the deliver driver just to make sure they deliver it here than than my neighbors door because I do not have an address sign. My door is on the side so you don’t really see it but still.

Maybe if I had an address plaque on one of the porch beams that might be helpful for everybody. I don’t think it would stand out enough if it was attached to the brick as that is what the bottom portion of the duplex is and the top portion is the siding. I still could have sworn it was on one of side portion of the roof over hang. What’s that called anyways, the ease of the roof?

Alvin the Squeakquel

Oddly enough everybody and their brother wanted to see this movie when it opened last Wednesday including me. I hopped onto Fandango to make sure there were tickets left so I could see the 11 AM showing so I could do some last minute shopping afterwards and then hit the gym. It said it was sold out but when I refreshed there were tickets. Figured I was safe until I got to the theatre. There was a line out the wazzoo and so I hopped back online while standing there looking and sure enough it was sold out again but I was still hopeful until they put a Sold Out sign over the time slot in the box office. It was sold out by trolls. Gah. Bought my ticket for the next showing and went shopping. Not how I wanted to do it but whatever.

Alvin was the bomb and we got introduced to the Chippettes in this one. There is one section of the movie where I want it to be a ringtone for my phone when Alvin toots his own horn. You see it in the trailers too. Freaking hilarious. If you haven’t seen the first one make sure you do first then see this one. Alvin and his brothers end up going to human school trying to fit in with their tiny sizes and the principal has a tattoo of them on her forearm. Talk about being a fan lol

Movie time review. That’s what I have been trying to do with all these days off and there are usually some great movies that comes out during the Christmas time as well as over the summer. Last week I went and saw Avatar. Now be prepared people. That movie is almost 3 hours long. Yep, you heard me right, 3 hours. I did not realize that until I was finally out of the theatre. Thought I was going to go crazy near the end because it sort of fell apart in the plot and I was getting ansy sitting there wondering how much longer before this was going to end. It finally made an impression on me when the fight scene was going on with the soldiers and the Avatars with their many dragons and animal friends helping during the fight. They were taking a trip back to prehistoric times with a twist on some of the animals in the forest.

I wonder if it will be possible though to do a mind swap which is probably not the technical term for it. What it was is the military wanted some sort of metal that had a massive supply under their home and they needed to become friends with the Avatars to gain access to it. So a few of the scientists and 1 soldier (who happened in this due to his twin brother dying and he was a DNA match) go into these pods and their brain function gets transferred over into the Avatars in that they could fully function in this breed as they mixed the human DNA with the Avatar DNA so they could do this. It’s way above my head but would be interesting. I’d recommend it to anyone to see.

Shopping for Clothes

I’ve never liked shopping for clothes. Recently I did go shopping only because I had some gift cards and I needed some pants as well as work out outfits. I think the workout outfits get ruined faster than anything else considering I don’t have very many and the fact that I go to the gym about 5-6 times a week. I was using my old t-shirts that are like 3 sizes too big and needed to get something that actually fit me for some of the things I was doing so they didn’t hang so low you could see down my shirt and preferably something like the camisole shown here due to the lack of sleeves on it from Ramblers Way. I get hot very fast and start to sweat profusely when I exercise. Not sure why but I do.

I’d go shopping online more often if I could guarantee that the clothes that I buy in my size fit properly. That is one of the drawbacks but so convenient if everything fit the proper way. I actually hate trying on clothes and cannot really tell what goes with what. If I had $500 to shop at Ramblers Way I’d buy quite a few of the camisoles for my gym workouts just because of the style which would keep me somewhat more cooler than I currently am fit better.

Late again this week, my bad

1. How do drink your hot chocolate? Marshmallows? From boxed or scratch?
I actually go buy my hot chocolate from Starbucks. I know I suck. But I usually get the skim milk with whipped cream on top of it and sprinkle either some cocoa or nutmeg.
2. Do you prefer cider hot or cold?
Neither actually, I’ve never been a cider person. I don’t like the taste of cooked apples.
3. Do you like egg nog?
Nope. Just turns me off.
4. How do you make punch?
Never made punch. I have, however, helped spike a few of them

Is It That Difficult?

I have to clock in and out each and everyday I work. Should I be out, I have to turn in my leave slips whether it is for sick leave, administrative leave, or vacation time. Now ever since October I have been taking anywhere from 1-3 days off a week to use up the excess vacation time I have racked up during the year since I’m not known for taking vacation days since #1 I have no where to go and #2 no money to go anywhere. Well, I should not have been surprised when I was checking the amount of my paycheck this week when it was shorted a days pay. Yep, the person who does the payroll conveniently “misplaced” my leave slip. My opinion? She trashed it. This isn’t the first time it has happened either. Now what ticks me off the most is the fact that she didn’t bother to call to see why I didn’t have my full hours. I mean really, what sort of person in this time of financial crisis honestly thinks I’m not going to need my entire paycheck? You can bet your ass she has her full paycheck as well as all her faction.

It just confounds me. When I worked on the floor and did the payroll up there and if anybody was short some hours I always, ALWAYS called them to find out what happened because I KNOW what its like not to get your full paycheck especially when you depend on it.

I mean its around effin Christmas. What the hail am I supposed to do about buying gifts AND trying to pay my bills since I’m still down a job.

Football Bingo?

Okay, who watched the game last night between the Steelers and Browns? What in the world right? I mean I think this is going to hurt the Steelers chance at even a wildcard now but what should I care anyways considering the Eagles are taking names and doing it right. We play the Giants Sunday night and I can only hope we can pull it out to get to the top of our division and make it further in the post season than we have been doing previously. I mean don’t get me wrong Andy Reid has been doing a fantastic job and getting us into the post season and he recently just got a contract extension which I know will help the team.

Now I also like playing the pots during the big games in that we have something looks like a bingo card with all sorts of possible points and during the end of each quarter we see what the score is and match it on the sheet. If our name is in it we win the pot for that quarter.

Imagine if you could play bingo for real like that. There are a couple of boxes that I might change though but I like the overall concept. Imagine playing online bingo with all your friends who cannot be with you during the big games. I can only imagine some of the comments after even one game with that. Right now we just have our weekly picks online since most everybody is spread around the country so this would not be any more different. Could have a card for each quarter.

Anybody having a good fantasy football season this year? I’m almost dead last as usual. I can never get a good draw. Eli has been giving me troubles and I keep benching his sorry behind and using Schaub. I wounder how that would be turned into bingo. Something to think about. But I must leave you now with something note worthy.

1. How many cookbooks do you have? (1-10, 11-20, 20+)
Without looking, I’d say 1-10. It is not many because I get most of my recipes from the internet.
2. Where do you keep your large utensils (such as slotted sppons, spatulas, etc)?
In a drawer right next to the stove. Quite convenient if you ask me.
3. What is your countertop made of?
I’m gonna have to say cheap linoleum? Not really sure, I’m in a rental unit so it is that cheap counter top stuff.
4. Do you use canisters in your kitchen?
Yep, I have 4 of them sitting right next to the stove on the counter with all sorts of pasta in them.

It Feels Like Springtime

So the tornado watch is obviously over with but the rain is still here and it is quite muggy again. That saying of April showers bring May flowers seems to be happening right now. It is quite warm too and I may have to kick in the A/C again if it stays. Makes me want to start planting things though. I have a hanging basket on my back porch that I was growing some chives but I think I have killed them off now just like everything else. I have this perfect spot to put a Window Box Planter right outside my kitchen sink window. Since the windows were replaced a while back I can open up the screen too and have free access to anything in front of the window on the ledge.

I’m sure I could use some Decorative Planters on my front porch with some pretty flowers next to the wooden bench I have or even some Indoor Planters but I’m afraid the dogs might get into some of those if they were on the ground or else my black thumb might have a hand in it too. The dogs have a severe habit of digging up my backyard right now looking for that blasted mole or moles which are also in the front yard too. They’d probably think, ooo something compact I can dig pretty fast.
