I consider myself a doityourselfer as the case may be for some things. Since I live alone I kind of have too. Heck even when my ex was living with me, he didn’t do much. When I first moved into this duplex years ago, I had to fix up the kitchen somewhat because it had those cheap looking cabinets up with no knobs on them. So had to put a few coats of primer up and then painted them white. Well, I had to borrow someones drill for a day to drill holes for some screws so I could put some handles on the cabinet doors and drawers and sadly, I did not and still do not have a tape measure so I was using a piece of paper to estimate it. As you might have surmised, they aren’t quite right and then because I did not know how far the sink came up to the front panel where I thought I could put some more handles to make it more uniform, I couldn’t get the screws in there through the hole to the handle and get it tightened. So there are 4 holes now in front of the sink. Looks tacky now but a lot better than it was. As big as that kitchen is, it also does not have an island which I think it should. I actually could build wood cabinets on my own now by heading over the DoItYourself.com site. Now sure how long it might take or how much stuff I would need to get but it would be a good project to keep what little free time I have occupied. What’s good about this website is the fact that they have thousands of articles about various projects and if you still get stumped they have forums to get some feedback from someone who might have already been in your position and can help. Remember knowledge is power and you should never be ashamed to ask for help anywhere you can get it. Even the DoItYourself DVD could help get you better results by giving your more detailed instructions than what you might get from the website.
