Using computer monitoring software is an essential piece of software for companies and especially for parents with children. It’s a safe and convenient way for parents to make sure their children are not ending up on sites they should not be viewing. Even with parental controls, this can sometimes be bypassed. Also with the computer monitoring software, you can keep track of who your children are emailing or instant messaging by having access to their passwords.

Now for companies, it works in the same way. I know we use computer monitoring software at the place I work at as well because some sites just should not be viewed while at work. I remember when the higher ups went after one of my coworkers because they saw objectionable sites being viewed at her workstation. Well, come to find out, they needed to look at the time of it as well because it ended up being the housekeeping staff and sadly there was no way to find out who exactly that was.

  1. I am a business owner and I don’t employee a software package to monitor usage, I simply walk around look, listen to my staff when they complain to me about another employee.

I hate monitoring because of my hate for micro-management.
