You know I get tired of the spammers trying to get through and posting garbage on my blog. I have a number of implements but you just can’t stop humans. What irks me the most I think is the fact that someone will take the time to write out a long ass post and then throw in “no follow” links everywhere. Now mind you it’s gonna get stopped if it has links and I read every single comment on my blog and I will in fact remove every single no follow link I find because guess what, it’s my blog and if I want to advertise whatever it is your are spewing whether it is related to whatever post I have or not that’s my choice. I abhor people who try to sneak no follows through in comments and if they really looked at my blog they’d see I implement a no follow rule but guess what if I know you are just spamming your links I’ll take them out.

  1. I’ve been hit a lot lately by spammers. I think it has to do with the fact kids are out of school for the summer and have nothing better to do. Most of the spam comments don’t even point to a URL. They just say something unrelated to the post. I keep marking them all as spam-and it really doesn’t help.

  2. My garden blog attracts spam for some reason… I get around 300 a day on there…. thankfully most are blocked before they see the light of day, but there is that one leaker every so often….

  3. My wordpress based blog gets a lot of spam but new blog hardly gets any. Probably coz its still new, but I hope the spam doesn’t increase with the exposure :/

I’ve also pondered that: who takes the time to write spam? And who do they think will actually click their links, and be interested in whatever they advertise? If we were looking for tablets, cheap watches or whatever else they sell we would’ve googled it, and not waited until someone left a comment with an obscure link leading to redirecting sites…which eventually led to the “bargain of a lifetime”?
