So this weekend I decided to uncover one of my hanging pots that has some herbs in it. I usually cover it every winter than bring it in because it is so big and it doesn’t really need any water during the winter and the herbs still come back during the spring. I usually cover it with 2 plastic grocery bags because it is so big. I’m taking one of them off and something flies at me and I’m like what the ?? so I carefully finish taking off the first bag and don’t see anything. Then I start taking off the second bag and get what you see there. A fricken bird took residence up in my hanging basket during the winter. Now I have no idea if there are any eggs in there or not and did not want to touch it so I figure either they will move on or the wind might bring it down since it was a little bit windy yesterday.
But that’s not even the half of it. I was letting the dogs out the back door when I looked left to the space in between the wall and the fridge right there and saw some dog food on the floor. I was thinking what in the world were these dogs up to and swept it up only to find a few more pieces the next day thinking I missed some and swept those up too. Well then I kept an eye on it for a few days and it just so happened that those few days the dog bowl was empty of food during the night when I filled it up again Saturday morning and left the back door open because it was nice out and went to take a shower to come back down and check again and there were a couple pieces of food. Aha!! I get the broom and sweep again and this time take a good look at what I swept up. Little turds. A mouse snuck in while I’ve had the back door open because it has been so nice and the water bugs haven’t come out yet. Loverly
I head off to the grocery store and pick out my method of disposal. I chose some little clamp tramps that will shut over the mouse when he walks through it. I place one in the path of where the food was being placed and keep watch. Two days nothing. This morning nothing but I see a couple of turds on the other side of the fridge where I can’t put a trap because it is too close to the counter. The little bastard is smart. I put another trap just in front of that spot kind of diagonal and underneath the over hang of the cabinets. Let’s see how smart that sucker is tonight. Otherwise I am going to have to buy some mouse poison but the only problem to that is I will have to hunt down the bastard when it dies underneath my fridge since that is where it has taken residence. I pulled out the fridge and didn’t see anything but then again I can’t lift it all the way up either. I checked all the cabinets as well so I know its the fridge as everything keeps pointing to the back of it. If I could capture it alive I would but sadly I don’t think it will give me that option.

We recently had a rat problem on our patio. We got 2 similar rat traps and coated them with peanut butter. One night, around 3 am we hear the trap go off and a screeching, scurrying out the dog door. It got a possom before it got the rat. Needless to say, a few days later we had a dead rat, but a new snake problem.
Ha ha! At least you know you aren’t going crazy. We have a mouse that comes to visit every once in a while, but do you think he would ever eat the meal my husband has prepared for him?
If there are eggs in the nest, please don’t disturb them. Birds abandon their eggs if they’re moved.
Yep which is why I haven’t touched it at all. It’s actually held up pretty well but it’s gonna come down when the herbs start growing back as there is nothing I can do about that lol
I’m from Idaho and our first little house my husband an I bought bought there had a family of mice living in it. It was full on war when I found little turds in my silverwear drawer. AHHH! Those little buggers drive me nuts. Luckily the house we live in now has only had one mouse in it. And it was quickly taken care of.
