Not only is it unprofessional but WTF is there that they have to talk to their friends or families about for the better part of the day? And I can remember warning someone when she was switching into another job, that the Director would not stand her being on the phone all day, and yet that made no difference. She was still on the phone all the time! With cellphones, I have to wonder about the urgency of these calls... on the subway on the way to work? standing in the bank line-up? The doctor wanted in emergency surgery call I might understand.
