Unless you do not own a television or have been living under a rock you know that the annual Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is coming up. It seems to me anyway that more and more people are becoming afflicted with this disease. My grandmother is in a home right now with it and has no idea who my mother is when she calls her most days if not all. Our nurses father has Alzheimer’s and when I go over there sometimes he will start talking about when he was in the war when he was young and about his wife who has been deceased for some years now. Heck my bosses mother even has Alzheimer’s and when she gets into those spells she will start talking in her native language and it is hard for people to understand her but my boss can as he knows the language. For the life of me I can’t think of what it is but it is not that common. Sadly this is what we all might have to look forward to to since our relatives have it.

Right now you can either join a local team or start your own team and help raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk. Our local Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is in October at Hampton Park. I have done a few walks through there before and it is really nice. You can bring your entire family out and help support a cause that affects either a member of your own family or someones elses. And remember you can help stave off some of the symptoms by catching it early by noticing a change in behavior or forgetting things. We all need to be more proactive.
