You know as we get older our body cannot seem to cope in some instances of our life and begins to start failing in certain areas. Sometimes we have genetics to thank in part for some of it so because of that these issues start when we are young. Take me for instance, I started wearing glasses when I was really young because bad vision runs in my family among other things.
As I get older though, I need to keep getting eye exams to make sure nothing serious has advanced as I advance in age such as Glaucoma, Cataract, Dry Eye, or Macular Degeneration. Now if you think you are too young for any of these you are sorely mistaken as we have some children that we treat with cataracts and glaucoma but as side effects from their medications.
I do have dry eyes and should be using drops but don’t. Wearing contacts does not help the situation either because essentially you have something over your eye for who know how many hours a day. I have looked into LASIK Epi-LASIK & LASEK because honestly I do not like wearing glasses and will not in public. Contacts are fine but I get annoyed having to put them in and take them out each morning/night. Plus you have to be careful in what you do especially around water because they might come out and then you are half blind and out a contact, which by the way are not cheap. And do not get me started on how bad it hurts when you rip a contact in the middle and then scratch your pupil.
Eye sight is not something to be taken lightly. Some people have no idea how good they had it until they lose their eyesight to something that might have been preventative had they gone to get a yearly eye exam especially at an elderly age. I urge everyone to have a look at the Eye Digest and read up on some of the eye diseases and some of the procedures that can be done to help as it is very informative.

Taking eye sight for granted is so true. I haven’t even had my eyes checked in so long.
