Fright Night

Friday, October 29th, 2010 | General with 1 Comment

So I went to one of the Halloween festivals last Sunday. I paid $25 for four things. There was a haunted house, corn maze, hayride, and scary clown thing.

Being disappointed was only the start. We actually wanted our money back after we did that. It took a little over an hour. I mean the 8 year old was scared but I attribute that to his uncle who kept scaring the crap out of him.

The only other things they had there to do was face caricatures. The only food they had was Papa Johns. We did get a Papa Johns coupon on the back of our ticket which is cool because I eat only that pizza.

The corn maze and hayride were really the only ones I liked. You had some sort of Chainsaw Massacre section in the corn maze and the hayride had something similar but also some pretty decent scary effects.

Crazy Weather

So the weatherman this morning said we’d get thunderstorms this afternoon. Sure okay, no problem. What he didn’t mention was all the havoc that came with these ones.

I get in the car and hope I get to hear a traffic report because I know it is going to be bad, the sky was already turning black. What luck, I get a traffic report until I heard it. Apparently all hell broke loose in Summerville with pouring rain and flying debris. Lightening struck some of our marshes and that was on fire. Then at the end they said this just in the water at the beach was on fire too!! Tons of accidents and now we have a tornado watch going on with hail here and there.

So I make it home through all of this to have to clean up the kitchen floor because one of the dogs had gotten sick :/ Nasty smell. I have the backdoor open right now to vent the place. Thank goodness for a covered back porch lol

RED

Movie time again. It has been a while but with the nearing of the end of the year there will be more to come for sure as I need to use up the excess in my vacation leave so I don’t loose it. Bruce Willis is one of my go to actors in a movie. Some weren’t so good but this one definitely was. And it was another one that had an all star cast. Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, and a somewhat small part with Ernest Borgnine who I also like to watch a lot.

In this movie, the actors are playing parts more towards their age as they are retired CIA assassins. The CIA has a hit out on the retirees because they were in an OP way back when involving the current VP of the United States who cannot have it come to light. All the action that I like is there. I’m surprised it wasn’t number 1 though. It should have been. It is a great movie.

There were kids in there again though on a Friday at 11:40 AM when I went. I cannot comprehend why parents would take their child out of school to go see a movie. What about the education? You can’t take them on a weekend?

Busybodies

Busybodies can be so obtrusive. Why is that? It just floors me of the audacity of this one. It all revolves around work. Heck, when doesn’t something revolve around work these days. That and the gym are the only places I go besides home most days.

Anywho, this persons not in my division. Has no bearing on anything that goes on much less anyones boss. Why is it then that this person decided to take it upon them self to fill out a form for a coworker in my division for leave. How does this person know they didn’t already fill one out? Did they ask said person? Obviously not. Does it have any bearing on their job? No. So why get involved in something then? I don’t get it.

Proactive Behind the Wheel

I get phones calls some times when we have clinic that a patient is going to be late when they might get stuck in traffic or just general circumstances occur. I do appreciate those because then we know we have another person to look forward to showing up especially if they might be the last one for that morning or afternoon. Well, yesterday I got a phone call from the child himself. He must have said his name first right after I answered the phone because I did not quite understand him and asked him to repeat it and he said it again. Okay, got the name. Then I hear the dad in the background, tell them we have a 9:30 appointment. So the child does. Then I hear the dad say we are going to be late, caught in traffic. The child does. I had to laugh honestly. I think that is the most proactive person I’ve come across while driving and using a cell phone. He had to have dialed the number or rather hit a speed dial and passed the phone off to the child. I commend you. If only we could get more people to do this.

While we are on the subject of appointments. It is soooo not cool to just not show up to your appointment and it actually aggravates us because we could have had other people waiting to get in to see the doctor come in place of your spot had you bothered to call and notify us. So please people, call whomever you are going to see if you plan on not coming so it can be rescheduled. It is a waste of everybodies time.

Move it with Playstation

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PlayStation MOVE. All opinions are 100% mine.

You know I haven’t played a full fledged gaming system since the game Sonic the Hedgehog came out and I didn’t even own that either, my parents did. I just played it. Do they even make that anymore? I also loved the Mario games. I completed a few of them when I did play them. I still own one of the handheld games from way back when but I haven’t a clue what brand it is. I only kept it because I liked playing Tetris.

I like the simple minded games or is it mind thinking games. Those games where you are playing with other people throughout worlds is just beyond me. I can only think it is my age but then there are people who are older than me that play those so that doesn’t really hold true. The new system on the market is the Playstation Move. If you already own a Playstation 3 you can bring the motion gaming home for only $99 with the MOVE bundle package. Now that my cars paid for maybe I can spring for one of these as my own Christmas gift. Most of the games are a bit weird to me but the Brunswick Pro Bowling would be a must since I love bowling but haven’t been on a league since I was banned that one year. I would also definitely get Tron. I remember that movie back in the 80s and the simple game that came out too. The new versions of both the movie and the game should be beyond what I am expecting.

I’ve always been one of those people who must win and to this day it still irritates me when I lose. It’s definitely something I need to work on. Since I live by myself I would only be irritating myself when I don’t think I have a high enough score that I should have gotten, especially with the bowling. Man, that’s something a shrink could have a field day with I’m betting.
