Free Weekend Getaway

Monday, August 30th, 2010 | General with 1 Comment

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hampton Hotels. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hampton_logo Imagine if you will the need for your own little getaway. Getaway from the husband, kids, neighbors, and coworkers. Kind of hard not to imagine right? Now the question becomes where would you like to go on your getaway? Now what would happen if you won a weekend getaway for you and 3 friends? Who would you choose? Where would you go? Personally, I’d head back down to Florida. I love going down there to either Daytona or Tampa. If you can believe it, I have still NOT been to Disney. I’ve taken myself to SeaWorld though all by myself. Sad really I couldn’t get anyone to go with me but whatever.

If the free weekend with 3 of your friends sounds good, how about a free weekend with 100+ of your closest friends? I don’t even have that many friends I’d want to hang out with for a weekend. For some though it could be a family weekend/reunion and you could be the hero for providing the accommodations. The Hampton Chain of Friends Sweepstakes is ongoing right now. The grand prize is an entire hotel for a weekend which is 100 rooms for 2 nights. Crazy right? I have already entered. I may not win the grand prize but the 100 first prizes of a weekend stay for me and 3 friends sounds good too. I can muster up that many close friends to have some fun.

Where would you go if you won? Who would you bring and if you were the lucky grand prize winner which hotel would you chose and who on earth would you invite to fill the 100 rooms? This is a win win situation folks, you have nothing to lose except the chance of not winning if you do not enter the sweepstakes on the Hampton Inn website.

Folks have you ever tried to read an over 1000 page book in 3 weeks? Do you think its possible? Well, I’m here to tell you it is. Since I got my library card I have been catching up on all the new books I have been missing. Usually I’ll get 2 books and with the semi-big font I can get them done in 3 weeks. I thought this one was going to be a stretch and I’d have to go back to get another 3 weeks tacked on. I did it though and with 2 days to spare. It may have been the 2 days I had off. Anywhoo….

The book is great. It sort of reminded me about how Desperation was done but on a much larger scale. An entire town was blocked off from the rest of the world with an invisible wall put up by bored alien children. Of course it had to be a small town where one of the selectman bullied everybody and essentially ran the town once the one person who did not bow died which happened to be the sheriff. He had a pacemaker and getting close to the wall shorted out any electronics.

There was also a townie doctor who was so old and not that well versed in the medical field. He died in the first third of the book and all the misdiagnoses he made where more apparent in the rest of the book. I mean, how do you misdiagnose a brain tumor for migraines? No tests of course.

There happened to be an ex army guy in there who was the local cook who kept getting framed for everything going wrong and for the people who were being murdered.

You’ll have to read it to get all the other details and the ending of the book. I started digging around on the internet to see if it was going to be turned into a movie because it would be great but instead a tv mini series if I remember correctly. Hooray! They haven’t gotten the cast together yet but I’m definitely curious to see who they pick for the more prominent characters like Rennie, Junior, and Barbie.

And football will start. That is to say NFL football will start. I think I might be over doing it in the fantasy football leagues though as if I am counting right I am registered for 4 now? Most of those are usually on auto cruise anyway unless there is a bye week. My prediction is that the Eagles will not make it this year to the division title without McNabb.

What about college football you say? College football is just practice football and arena football is pretend practice football. I’m sure there are loads of people I just offended from that but hey, that’s how I feel. I just can’t figure out why college ball does not have the same rules as the NFL when they are just going to be moving up into that role anyways. The only reason I watched college ball last year was when I was at the gym and they were playing a Florida game when Tebow was QB. It just dumbfounded me on why he was in that position because he’s not a QB in my opinion. He belongs in the RB position. So then I took it on a personal mission to watch those games so I could see him get trampled by the oncoming tacklers and always rooted for the other team no matter who it was. Now I can just not watch it anymore unless you people can tell me of another wannabe QB that doesn’t belong in that position.

Sadly enough I have yet to make it to an actual NFL game though. Had the chance once but had a tragedy with one of my pets and I was in no mood to go to the superbowl. I know, I know I missed my shot at watching my beloved Eagles. I am thinking about getting some tickets this year for something close by and using a StubHub coupon code will help me shave off some of the high prices for better seats. I don’t care to be in the nosebleed section. I’ve had enough of those to last me when going to concerts which StubHub could also help me get as well. So remember Stubhub for your entertainment ticket purchases.

The Expendables

Here you go folks. You want to reclaim some of your youth and the movies we used to watch? This movie is it. It was partially written and directed by Stallone and boy did it have it all. All the action and inane plots we are used to. No thinking involved.

This movie had ALL the stars you could want. I just wish Willis and Arnold had more time but I guess it just wasn’t meant to be in this film. I mean when will you ever see Stallone and Lundgren on the screen together again? It’s epic people.

I already hear that Stallone is thinking of doing a part 2 now and he should people will eat this up. Just to sit there and cringe when people get the crap beat out of them is priceless. I mean there were a lot of damn’s going on when things were blowing up and stuff. The comedy in it was epic as well as most of them were jabbing at themselves. Go see it!

Smartphones are our Life

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Boost Mobile. All opinions are 100% mine.

How many of you have a smartphone? Raise them hands because I can only imagine like maybe 5% do not. You have the Androids, the iPhones, and the Blackberries for the most part that everybody knows about and/or owns. I, myself, own a Blackberry 9700 and love it to death.

The problem most of us have is trying to find the best coverage, price, and amount of options we can get for the least amount of money. Having no contract is a bonus as well if you can find one. Re-Boost is one of the companies that let you have cell service without a contract. You know what else? Their blackberry plan is even cheaper than my plan as well as all the other companies that are in my area that I know of. The plan is only $60/month. You can pay by debit/credit card, in person, or by phone. If you like doing the automatic payments that is an option as well.

Using Boost Mobile gives you the freedom of using all the social networks and internet without worry of going over in data usage. You have seen how the companies are now having set plans each month. Not good in my opinion. I was lucky enough to get in on the unlimited before these started up. I receive all my RSS feeds on my phone, leave UberTwitter on 24/7 posting and reading, all my emails and surfing. Not to mention when I listen to Pandora. That’s a lot of data usage. Last month I had about 1000 SMS texts too and with football season starting up it will only become more as I get text messages during my Eagles matches because I cannot get the NFL network.

It pays to shop around and find the best coverage and plans you can find for the least amount of money. If a contract is an issue Boost Mobile is an option.

Four Foods on Friday #121

Sunday, August 15th, 2010 | General with 1 Comment

Time to learn more food facts according to me. If you are not interested you can move along. As always be sure to check out Fun Craft and Recipes to join each week and to spread the news so others might join as well.

Share a meal or recipe that you could make using four ingredients. The four ingredients are:

* Potatoes
* Ground beef
* Green beans
* Soup, your choice of type

Sadly, I think I have already failed this. The only thing I could come up with is hash for the ground beef and potatoes. Then maybe some chicken soup and toss in the green beans and maybe some diced potatoes too.
