Four Foods on Friday #116 & #117

Saturday, June 26th, 2010 | General with 1 Comment

Time to learn more food facts according to me. If you are not interested you can move along. As always be sure to check out Fun Craft and Recipes to join each week and to spread the news so others might join as well.

Not sure what happened but I missed last weeks too so here’s both of them :)

1. What kind of orange juice do you like? Pulp, no pulp, etc.
I haven’t bought OJ in forever but definitely no pulp because I don’t like it sticking in between my teeth.

2. Rolls. Do you prefer them with seeds or without?
Hmm, doesn’t really matter so long as they are warm and yummy.

3. What is your favorite scent of dish soap?
Dawn Apple Blossom and I donate $1.00 to the wildlife fund as a bonus.

4. What’s in the butter storage space in your fridge?
Garlic cloves and packages of mayonnaise.

and

Name four things related to food that are strange or funny to you.
1. Why state something is fat free/sugar free on the box but when you mix it with other stuff it isn’t anymore?
2. Microwavable time directions are never right.
3. I never understand why we must salt everything…I very rarely use the stuff.

Well, all I could think of at the moment are 3 things.

Marmaduke

Well, I didn’t intend to watch this movie only because I didn’t think they could pull it off as it is based off of the comic strip. I grew up reading Marmaduke, Peanuts, Garfield, etc. Well, I went to the theatre to see Killers initially but the movie listing on the internet lied apparently and the girl behind the window said I can’t control what the papers print. I wanted to smack her after that.

Anywho, I took my contraband cherry Twizzlers inside the theatre and waited for the show to start. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the movie and I guess the kids would get more of a kick out of then I did although some of the dogs were kind of cute. You have your love story with the outcast mutt trying to get the purebred who hangs out with her over controlling purebred boyfriend until he gets humiliated and then it is revenge time to do the same to Marmaduke. Then at the very end you have all the dogs doing a little dance. That pretty much sums it up lol

The A-Team

You all remember this as a kid or adult, well some of you. This might pre date some people out there but I remember it. I loved how crazy Murdock was and the movie lived up to that too. B.A. Baracus’s character was an unknown as far as I know. I can’t say as I’ve seen him anything else but he did a good job I thought.

The best part of all which they show in the trailers on TV was the part where B.A. parks his van in front of one of the militaries hospitals (psych ward) so they can pick up their helicopter pilot (Murdock) and while in the air he snags the cords from the AC on the roof, picks it up and ends up dropping it on top of B.A.’s van to which he says something to the effect of “Fool, I’m gonna kill you for smashing my van” to which Murdock says something like “Well, you were parked in a handicap zone”. You just can’t beat the craziness from them all.

My favorite character though was Face. I love Bradley Cooper’s latest movies. He gets some of the funniest characters. I’m still on the fence with Smith only because Neeson played him. I’m not that big a fan although he did do a good job. And don’t get me started on Biel’s character. What exactly was that eh?

Overall, a solid B to B+.

Upgrading a Rental Yourself

Friday, June 18th, 2010 | General with Comments Off

Would you do it? How long should one stay in the rental to get full use of said item(s) before taking a loss since the owner does not repair/replace anything? I’m seriously debating on doing some upgrades just so my living habitat is more to my liking and ease. The first couple things would be to completely take out the first floor carpet, which is on concrete by the way, and either do cheap wood floors or just paint the concrete because I despise carpet and the carpet that is now currently down is not even tacked to the floor anymore and no amount of carpet cleaners can get this clean as it is probably close to 15 years old. It is literally the same carpet that was put in right before I moved in.

Now another thing is the kitchen sink. It constantly drips. It has been replaced once already and if I remember correctly for the same thing. Personally, I like the undermount stainless steel sinks but this ones not that. Of course there are cheap counter tops to so you do the math. I just want the dripping to stop and a new sink would fix that completely. I could even get a faucet set that I like too. I have to make sure I place faucet just right of the center that separates the two sides so I don’t hear it drip because it drives me insane.

Then there is the dripping faucet in the bath tub too. I’ve replaced those knobs quite a few times from other issues but would replacing the knob itself stop the dripping in that? I’m not really sure. The entire thing needs to be redone because the morons who fixed it last put a butter lid to cover where the attachment to the tub latch is supposed to be and I can’t clean it without destroying the goo that covers it. Hence, its gross and if I take the goo off it the butter lid will come down and most likely a huge hole behind it.

DiGiorno Pizza w/ Breadsticks

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010 | General with Comments Off

I had to give this pizza a shot because I kept seeing the commercials and thought it just has to be good. Right? Well, maybe on a really shitty day. I mean even those dinky little Totino’s pizza are better I think.

I’m not really sure if I could pin it down to one specific thing either. The whole thing just turned me off. I usually either make my own at home or on that rare occasion I’ll buy my pizza from Papa Johns. It held up somewhat when I found a container of the garlic butter from Papa Johns that I still had in the fridge. I didn’t think it was chewy enough like what I make at home and the breadsticks were lacking that garlic flavor they needed as well as a ton more cheese. Could’ve used more pepperoni too.

I think I’ll be sticking to my homemade ones from now on.

Four Foods on Friday #115

Saturday, June 12th, 2010 | General with 1 Comment

Time to learn more food facts according to me. If you are not interested you can move along. As always be sure to check out Fun Craft and Recipes to join each week and to spread the news so others might join as well.

I’m a day late on this because I got back from our kidney camp late last night and I just wanted by bed. I’ll have a few posts about that throughout the week with some pictures and some without because I didn’t have time to get over to one of the cabins that got nailed by a dead tree. Everybody was fine though just structural damage.

1. What kind of olive oil do you use?
I prefer extra virgin olive oil from Filippo Berio. I did buy one from Costco once that was excellent but never was able to find it again. It was in a tall square bottle.

2. Do you prefer salted or unsalted butter?
I guess I buy the salted? Honestly, I have no idea. I buy Country Crock Light. What’s that have?

3. What size eggs do you usually buy?
I usually get large or extra large. The others just seem too small for me.

4. What’s in the bottom drawer of your fridge?
Well, since I just went to the store since I had no food, I have carrots, apples, peaches, oranges, package of smoked turkey, and a bag of shredded cheese now.
