Drivers are Lame

Sunday, January 31st, 2010 | Personal with 5 Comments

So last night a friend and I were headed downtown for some dinner and drinks. I was driving. I was in the fast lane as I always am and cannot for the life of me understand why some people stay in that lane when they have no business. I could complain about this on a daily basis but last night really tweaked me. This out of stater was in front of me first and he/she moved into the middle lane and I moved on down the road when they went all the way to the right lane to come clear across back into the fast lane in front of me and then slow up. Really?? He moves back over to the far right lane to get back off.

I move down the road again. Then I’m behind somebody in an SUV who thought it would be cute to keep slamming on the brakes because they did not want to move into the middle lane. So be it, I moved into the middle lane to go around them. It was an effin girl on the phone. What a freaking moron.

Back into the left lane moving down the road when I end up behind somebody in a Honda I believe, don’t really remember but they were jackasses. They stayed in the left lane, I went into the middle lane to get around them when they keep speeding up to match me so I could not get back into the left lane. WHAT THE EFF?? Why are people such jackasses?? This went on until the interstate ended downtown.

Four Foods on Friday #103

Time to learn more food facts according to me. If you are not interested you can move along. As always be sure to check out Fun Craft and Recipes to join each week and to spread the news so others might join as well.

Only one question this week.

1. Name four things you ate today.

Since it is the morning, the only thing I have had is Chocolate Cheerios with milk. They are new and they are the bomb! They don’t put out as much chocolate as Cocoa Puffs once you have eaten them all but quite tasty none the less.

Had I wrote this tonight, I would have mentioned the easy italian pasta bake I will be making later today. Recipe as follows:

1 lb. extra lean ground beef
3 cups whole wheat penne pasta, cooked, drained
1 jar (26 oz.) spaghetti sauce
1/3 cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese, divided
1-1/2 cups KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

HEAT oven to 375°F. Brown meat in large skillet; drain. Add pasta, sauce and 1/2 the Parmesan; mix well.

SPOON into 13×9-inch dish; top with remaining cheeses.

BAKE 20 min. or until heated through.

Special Extra
Brown meat with 1 tsp. Italian seasoning and 3 cloves garlic, minced.

Now my only problem is I don’t own a 13 x 9 pan so I guess my round Casserole bowl will have to do :)

The Tooth Fairy

Monday, January 25th, 2010 | General with 1 Comment

Well, I had meant to go watch Legion this past weekend and/or catch up and watch Daywalkers but first Legion wasn’t at the dollar theatre around the corner from me and secondly, Daywalkers was only playing at night. Well, what other choices did I have that I had not seen yet? A few cartoons and a chick flick. Neither of which sounded appealing. So The Tooth Fairy was it. Lo and behold every known kid in the vicinity was there too. I went to the 4:30 PM showing. I was in a row with just 4 seats and I was sitting on the aisle like I try to always do. The theatre was packed and then 4 kids were ushered into my row by a parent. Some of them tiny so 2 of them sat in 1 seat but they didn’t stay. They were friends instead of family and kept talking then they said they couldn’t see and lets go find some other seats, in/out, in/out, in/out. I swear they must have come and gone close to 10 times. Where they finally ended up is beyond me but I was left to myself for 3/4′s of the movie.

The movie itself was quite good in my opinion. I’m glad Julie Andrews is still doing movies because she was good as the head Tooth Fairy. You must watch the credits though, I think those were the funniest part. If you look close enough Seth McFarlane is in this movie too :)

I’m late again, my bad.

1. What’s your favorite type or shape of pasta?
Hmm, I love the look of the shells but so long as it is the wheat or the multigrain I think I’m good. I don’t like getting the regular white pasta for home.
2. Where do you shop for groceries?
Bi-Lo
3. What’s your favorite mayonnaise?
I grew up on Kraft so that’s what I buy unless Hellmann’s is on sale and then I buy that.
4. What is the food in your freezer wrapped/stored in?
The meats are separated individually, plastic wrap, then reynolds wrap, then in a food storage bag so I know what is what. I have some berries frozen in a heavy duty tupperware container for my smoothies.

Did You Buy a House?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010 | General with Comments Off

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Coldwell Banker. All opinions are 100% mine.

With the horrid economy comes low, low prices for houses. Houses we all thought we could not afford. Houses we had always dreamed about owning but thought we could never afford. Of course with the bad economy though leaves the possibility of us still not being able to obtain said houses due to low credit scores no thanks to relatives in my case.

Now if you were one of the lucky ones to be able to obtain one of these affordable houses you were lucky enough to receive the first-time homeowners tax credit of up to $8,000. Although, recently when I was watching the news, I believe, they mentioned an additional $2,500 tax credit for first-time homeowners but I’m not sure why or how long that might be for. If you have been in a home from 5-8 years you could still qualify for up to $6,500 but with both of these tax credits. You need to make sure you have the contracts in before April 30, 2010 with closing by no later than June 30, 2010 to be able to use the 2010 Homebuyer Tax Credits. Single people have an income limit of up to $125,000 and married couples $225,000.

I have been searching on and off for houses for years. I was never sure if I should take on that responsibility and now that I want to I cannot due to my credit score. Renting just seems senseless at this point because I’m only helping the owner pay of their mortgage and essentially wasting money paying rent every month because my money isn’t being used for a home for when I grow old and become retired. I do not want anything too terribly big in the house but the yard I’d love to get at least an acre. What kills me is by the time I’m really ready there will not be any sort of incentive like this.

Old Coins and Such

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 | General with Comments Off

We were talking about ways to make money in clinic Tuesday. It ended up on old coins and such. I have a slew of $2.00 bills, Susan B Anthony dollars and some old pennies with the One Cent written on the back. Now in 1943 they were using the copper for the war so the pennies were to be made in silver and covered in zinc but there happened to be about 40 known now to be struck in copper which are very expensive. now on some of the Susan B Anthony coins that were struck within the past few years happens to have the writing on the side of the coin upside down which people are interested in too. So maybe now I need to look into some of the coins that I have and see if any of them are worth anything.

Now on the other side of this I have a tin of baseball cards that I could care less about that I had gotten when I was a kid. I’m almost positive I have a full team set of one of them but I’d have to check again. I could get rid of those without any sort of hesitation.

Now my only question is, where would one go to see about all of this? I don’t think there is any coin collecting places and/or baseball collecting places around here. Antiques roadshow wouldn’t be a good choice either except maybe for the coins.
