October is Breast Cancer Awareness

Monday, October 19th, 2009 | Health with Comments Off

ribbonBreast cancer, to me, seems so prevalent in society. You could probably do a six degrees from any one person and they will most likely know someone who has or has had breast cancer. I have known quite a few people and each one of them has survived by the way. I have a friend right now going through ovarian cancer on her second round of treatment because the first treatment course did not work so they are doing a different one now. Not sure how prevalent ovarian cancer is but maybe C’elle could help with that as well.

Right now there is a C’Elle Breast Cancer Donation drive going on during the month of October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. I am still some what bothered by the fact of using embryonic stem cells but more research is being offered using this sort of means including our own research. So long as it helps cure diseases in the end, that should be the other thing that matters right? Technically no one is being harmed in obtaining this which is important. Right now there is a Cyro-Cell Breast Cancer Donation of $50 for each purchase of the “Protect Baby, Protect Mom” service and $25 for each purchase of the “C’elle Menstrual Stem Cell” service to the Susan B. Komen Foundation. Cryo-Cell has a partnership with NIH right now to find how menstrual stem cells can be a treatment option for breast cancer. Get out there and support a worthwhile cause like this because we all know someone who has breast cancer.

What Is This?

IMG00026 Okay, since we solved the black walnut issue. This is growing on the trunk of the same walnut tree. I can break them off pretty easily but they keep coming back and more each time. Why do I have these wacky trees?

Still on the mole hunt. I really need to buy mole poison because they have GOT to be breeding like it is out of style because they have torn up my front yard now. The dogs are digging holes in the back yard trying to find them. I’m tried of filling in holes.

Searching the Interweb

Do people even call it that anymore? Was it ever a mainstream word? It is things like this that make you wonder what happened way back when. I know I cannot remember half of the things I have done but remember all to well the times I’ve gotten in trouble or escaping trouble for that fact when nobody found out what I was doing.

Ever wondered what happened with that crew you hung out with, or that crazy guy who seemed to be the class clown? I do sometimes. I also wonder who made it big. I have seen a few of my classmates around where I live and obviously we did not make it anywhere and 1 of them I wonder how long before they are back in jail. I never really understand why some people end up on the wrong side of the law.

MyLife is the class reunion website that I use to try to track down some of my old classmates. A few of them have been popping up lately as we are nearing our 20 year high school reunion. Maybe most of them are realizing it has been 20 years since high school and they are wanting to get to the next reunion since they were not able to arrive at the 10 year reunion. It would be good if more people showed up than the last one. I know a few people I was looking for were not there so hopefully they will show up this time. One of them I know is in the military so hopefully he is stateside come next June.

When It Rains, It Pours

Monday, October 19th, 2009 | Personal with 3 Comments

I can’t seem to catch a break these days. Still looking for a part time job and have been applying everywhere. Was going to go back out this Wednesday as I’m off to apply at any other places I can find but this morning I was getting ready to go to work and the effin battery is dead in my car. I just can’t win. Everything is against me these days. More money I need to fix the effin car but don’t have. I’m almost to the point of just giving up.

Adopt a Pet

Friday, October 16th, 2009 | Animals with 2 Comments

I’ve been torturing myself lately by looking on the ASPCA websites locally for my next pet which is an all white cat. I had an all black cat and she died a few years ago and I wasn’t ready for another yet but I am now. The only pet I have ever bought was my cat at one of those pathetic pet stores that were at the mall. It was my cat and another which my mother bought that remained and they were both ill which is probably why we got them because we could see it. I prefer to adopt a pet because no animal should be a throwaway which is how I view most of them. I saved one of my dogs from being in a garage sale and the other one was from a storm drain.

Every now and then I’ll find a larger database of animals to look through to torture myself even more because I have a personal 2 pet rule in my place and will not get another one until one passes but who can help not wanting another pet after seeing some of the photos? Petango.com – Adopt a cat! is another large database that you can search through with just the zip code. I like that and there actually was a white cat close by me that I had no idea about because it is not at the SPCA. It is at a Pethelpers site. Instead of buying pets from puppy mills try Petango to adopt one.
