Ready for School Yet?

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009 | Technology with Comments Off on Ready for School Yet?

School starts next week and for some they are still not ready. I know a few of my friends are not even going to think about shopping until the first day of school as they want the kids in school so they can go shopping without them. Overall I guess that makes sense if you have younger children. The older ones are a bit more picky and especially the college students because they do not want to have something ugly as they are most likely going to be sharing their dorm room with 1 or 2 other people. Luckily most of the parents ended up getting some electronics on the tax free weekend including the most important laptops and/or netbooks so the school work can be done. A microwave and possibly small fridge would be great to put in the room as well to keep snacks available.

The college students could even help pick out things online using the CampusReady website and have it shipped to the nearest local Sears store to the college the student is attending so they would not have to ship it themselves or bring it themselves. Sears is also teaming up with UPromise and a total of $25,000 will be awarded. I actually am a UPromise member so I could be entered automatically with a Sears.com purchase through UPromise.com or enter free at sears.com/campusready. I still need to finish my degree so maybe I can win it.

For all the facebook fanatics there is also the CampusReady app on Facebook. You can be your own dorm room designer and also find a dorm room roommate with the roommate matchup. This way you could possibly find somebody or a couple of people depending on how many have to share the dorm room/suite that are more compatible. We all know the horror stories of some peoples roommates and none of us want that.

Still Trapped

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009 | Personal with Comments Off on Still Trapped

and now it’s getting ready to pour. I finally have tracked down the clutch master cylinder which apparently vendors are not making because of all of the cut backs on vehicles and the economy. Where did I find it? A salvage yard. I actually did not even find it but a friends neighbor did because he is a mechanic at one of them and he called around for me. He should have it in his hot little hands by the time he gets home from work today but with this weather coming in I doubt very seriously he will put it in tonight considering I do not have a garage and I can’t drive it to one either since the clutch does not work although he could bleed the line again like what was done yesterday which managed to get me going for about 3 hours before it crashed out again. This is just so frustrating. I called all over the place to every known parts store and either the vendor they used did not have any and did not expect any or the one place that did stock it would not be able to get one in until the end of the week. I can’t wait that long. I need to get back to work and I can’t stand being couped up in the house.

One Remote Please

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009 | Technology with Comments Off on One Remote Please

IMG00006Ever lost that one remote? One of those remotes you very rarely use but every now and then you want to use that one specific piece of equipment and bam, it is MIA. You think maybe the kids lost it but I always blame things on my dogs. If it is gone they took it. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Attached is a picture of all the remotes I have on my coffee table. One for the TV, the VHS player, the stereo system, and 2, yes count them 2 remotes for 2 DVD players because one is acting up and it plays my VCD players and the other one does not.

I actually have one of those remotes that is supposed to be an all in one exclusive but have only every managed to get one thing working on it at a time. Yamaha neoHD is a new remote that looks to me like it might work to combine all of these remotes that I have into one. Truly the only way to know is to test it out and we are all in luck because the Yamaha neoHD Sweepstakes is going on right now. You or I could win one. There are a couple of ways to win one. One is by Tweeting: “I just entered to win a #neoHD b/c I have too many remotes, visit (blog.izea.com) to enter” or enter via blog.izea.com. You could also find more information and sweepstakes rules on their facebook page by searching for neoHD.

So how many remotes do you people use on a daily basis? Ready to get rid of the different ones for an all inclusive one remote for everything?

Bad Ju Ju

bathroomWhy is it everytime I finally take some time off something happens to disrupt it? I wake up Friday morning to get to a full body scupt class at the YMCA and the clutch in my car is toast. So now I am at the mercy of a friend to come and replace the cable which he has not been able to do yet. I’m like a trapped rat here and going stir crazy because I can’t go anywhere. I really don’t want to call up a friend just to say can you pick me up so we can do things.

I was able to get out of the house yesterday because I was helping a friend buy a new laptop while it is tax free weekend. Then we went to the Olive Garden to have dinner. That was excellent, I just wish they had one in my city. Raspberry cheesecake for dessert. Yummy!

Painted my upstairs bathroom today since I wasn’t doing much of anything else after mowing the lawns. I had gotten a free can of paint from Glidden when they had that special online and ordered what was called fresh pinapple. Thought it would match the palm tree theme I had going on from what I was looking at online but it turned out to be yellow. Yep. You can see for yourself

Hospital Attire

Friday, August 7th, 2009 | Health with 1 Comment

scrubsYou know recently there have been some issues with hospital attire and without going into too much depth they were unfounded. Recently the hospital went to colored coded scrubs to help the patients differentiate between staff whether it be the physicians, to nurses, to techs. You get the idea. Some of the colors you have to wonder about because the dietitians have to wear to brown and the techs have to wear black. Needless to say they are not that flattering. The nursing scrubs, however, are a teal blue for the LPNs and a dark blue for the RNs. Not bad considering in some of the pediatric areas they have some of the walls colored a teal blue which match and potentially if they are standing in front of that wall they sort of blend in. Nice eh?

The physicians have standard medical scrubs that is given to them by the hospital of course stamped with the hospitals name all over it. They are a pale blue to somewhat match the hospitals logo. You really would not believe how comfortable wearing scrubs are though. Gives you the freedom of not having form fitting clothes that some people like to wear because on an instant sometimes those might hinder you in movement.

Recently I was offered the chance to review some scrubs from Blue Sky and have been very pleased with them. I received my package promptly after ordering online and was pleasantly surprised to find a cap in with my scrubs which was packaged in a hard box like you would receive a Christmas gift oddly enough. I liked that touch. Ordering the scrubs online was an enjoyable experience as I could choose a color from their color palate as well as from 2 different styles. The prices are very reasonable and actually beat out some of the prices you could find around here in the local stores. I would definitely have to give them a thumbs up all around and will definitely order more as I need them from Blue Sky.

Who’s Ready for some Football?

Monday, August 3rd, 2009 | Sports with 2 Comments

I have my philly schedule already loaded up on my blackberry calendar so I will be sure to catch any game I can and if not watch it online. Last I read we still hadn’t officially signed Maclin and we need him bad.

I read today that Burress was finally indicted on shooting himself in the leg and they want him to have 3 1/2 years in jail. Not sure when that will start or if there is going to be another trial but he will have to serve for sure at least 2 years of it and the NFL still hasn’t figured out what to do with him either as far as I know.

Favre says that he will stay retired but with Jackson rehabbing a knee for the Vikings…I dunno. Will be interesting.
