Okay, so I finally arrived back home last evening around 9 PM. Man was I tired. We got back most everything we came in with too except one child forgot his sleeping bag which I will have to call on Monday to see if they kept it in the lost and found or what. I managed to lose my sunglasses in the Atlanta airport on the way back but picked up a new pair today. We also saw this airplane in the Nashville airport since we had to wait about 3 hours before boarding as we could not wait at the camp because they were pretty much tearing it down in a sense of removing all the things they brought for it. It was Frontier Airline with the wolf on the tail and I could only assume it is for maybe Alaska but I’m sure some of you good people might know as I’m too lazy to look it up right at this point. I just wanted to get this post up about the trip. Probably going to have a couple more installments as I have pictures of some things but won’t be posting any of the children though but will tell you about some of it.
Anywhoos, while in the Nashville airport for those lovely 3 long hours I let some of the older kids roam around the airport since I thought I did not have to watch them. Boy was I sorely mistaken. I ended up getting found by one of the airline attendants in the Delta sector where I was sitting waiting on our flight with the other 2 kids telling me that I had to go pick up the 3 kids at the ticket counter because they managed to essentially exit the airport all the way to the front and could not get back in because they did not have their airline ticket. Well that pretty much halted them from going anywhere out of my sight after that. I also think that might of scared them a little because they would have been left in Nashville if nobody could have found me to go pick their butts up.
Then, while waiting in the Atlanta airport I saw one of our administrative people from our department was heading back home too and found that hilarious. When I had put in my request for administrative leave for the camp they wanted all sorts of proof of me going. I think that pretty much alleviated any questions they might have had considering he saw me with 5 kids. There was no way I was going to take vacation time for that week because it sure as heck was no vacation. You work your butt off with close to 80 kids for the week.
Well I’m here at camp now for the week and actually have been here since Saturday. Traveling with 5 kids isn’t all it was cracked up to be especially when they pack so much stuff. The littlest one was afraid of the escalator. So I had to pick her up and carry her on those with my backpack, sleeping bag that I couldn’t fit in my suitcase (which by the way I need to get a bigger one befor next years camp), and one of the others carry on because he couldn’t get it on the escalator and himself at the same time. We have already had the carnival including hot air balloon which was kind of interesting. People who thought that this might have been a vacation are sorely mistaken but it is worth it and I shall have some pictures when I get back to put up as it won’t upload them from my phone right now. Yep, that’s right we even got service out here in the sticks in spots, who knew.
Time to learn more food facts according to me. If you are not interested you can move along. As always be sure to check out Fun Craft and Recipes to join each week and to spread the news so others might join as well.
1. Mashed potatoes. Do you usually buy the boxes, the frozen or make from scratch.
Only on a few occasions will I use the box stuff because I love, LOVE fresh mashed potatoes.
2. Cottage cheese. What kind do you like? (large curd, small curd, 2%, 4%, no salt, etc)
Large curd, full percent whatever that may be lol It’s Bi-Lo brand specific. I won’t touch anybody elses cottage cheese. I always put tomatoes in it.
3. Is there a food that you are brand loyal to?
I guess just the usual brand named foods that I’ve always grown up on and still continue to use.
4. When cooking do you usually use fresh onions or the ones from the spice aisle that are chopped or powdered?
Well I try not to cook with onions to often considering I’m not fond of them but when I do they are always fresh. Now green onions I can eat all the time and those are always fresh.
You know all this furlough days and losing money from my paycheck is really getting to me now. Thankfully this is the last month and I can start getting my normal paycheck again because I’m having a hard time trying to push back some payments to everybody who wants a piece of the action. Still haven’t found another part-time job and I’ve applied just about everywhere I could actually get a job at.
Then the A/C needed fixing yet again. This time just freon and that happened yesterday thankfully. My A/C the previous day when I got home from work ran for just about 4 straight hours before it cut off and that was just from what I could count while I was there. Lord know how long it actually ran for. We are already hitting 90s around here. I never see less than a $100.00 electric bill but I sure as heck can’t afford a $200.00 one either.
