The Adventures in Hospitaland

Monday, February 23rd, 2009 | Health with 2 Comments

Oh yeah, we are gonna be talking about the restrooms people. I just cannot comprehend why on gods green earth people have to be soo nasty when it comes to using the bathrooms at work. It being in a hospital makes it even worse and then you have to seriously think what the hail these buttwipes do in their own bathrooms at home. I call maintenance about the womens bathroom constantly due to people shoving their uneaten food down the sink drains and clogging them up to what I found today which I REFUSE to call about. I go in and there are 4 stalls. Now 1, the lock does not work so most people do not use it. One today had a hand written out of order sign taped to the door. Well of course, I want to know why so I open it. Some moron decided to put a towel in the toilet and try to flush it. Really?? You are that stupid to think a towel is going to get flushed? I mean sure these are some strong toilets but not for towels. :???:

Four Foods on Friday #67

Time to learn more food facts according to me. If you are not interested you can move along. As always be sure to check out Fun Craft and Recipes to join each week and to spread the news so others might join as well.

1. Potato chips. Flavored? Regular, ridged or stacked?
I love eating Munchos. It has the very, very crispiness that I like and it is way salty.
2. Cheese doodles. Yellow or white? Puffed or crunchy?
Well, I prefer Cheetos but these aren’t really considered cheese doodles so yellow and puffy.
3. Pretzels? Your favorite shape? Favorite flavor?
I’m not really into the flavored pretzels and so long as they have enough salt on them it doesn’t matter which shape they are in although the bite ones are fun to play with.
4. Share a recipe for salsa or dip.
I can honestly say I have never made either so my recipe would be either buy salsa in a jar and open or crack open a can of french onion dip lol

1. Are your Kitchen utensils nylon, silicone, wood or other?
I actually have nylon and wood but need to get more wood ones so I don’t scratch up my Caphalon.
2. Do you prefer dishes washed in a dishwasher or by hand?
No preference unless I need something that is dirty as it takes me at least a week to get enough dishes in the dishwasher to run it lol
3. How many sets of dishes do you have?
Just one I bought years and years ago at K-Mart which are fine china if you can believe that :)
4. Share a recipe that calls for only one pot or pan.
Actually I have been making chicken and broccoli lately that fits this bill as I cut some corners on things which you will see to make it one pot almost.

Premake 1 tsp cornstarch, dissolved in 1 tbp water.

Chicken marinade: 1 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp Chinese rice wine vinegar, 1/2 tsp cornstarch, 1/8 tsp black pepper.

Sauce: 2 tbp oyster sauce, 1 tsp Chinese rice wine vinegar, 1 tbp soy sauce, 1/4 cup chicken broth.

1. Marinate chicken (3/4 lb thinly sliced or I cube them) with marinade until coated, let stand 10 minutes.
2. Stir sauce ingredients in a bowl.
3. Blanch 3/4 lb broccoli (I use 1 entire fresh steam bag pouch and toss it in the microwave since I love broccoli).
4. Heat a large pan/pot over high heat. Add cooking oil to coat. Add chicken and when almost completely cooked add in 2 cloves of garlic minced or smushed and cook for a minute. Pour in the sauce and add the broccoli to bring to a boil. Pour in the dissolved cornstarch and cook, stirring, until the sauce boils and thickens.

Now I cheat and use Minute rice in a bag and boil/microwave a bag of that on the side to place under my yummy goodness.

When Dreams Collide

Thursday, February 12th, 2009 | Personal with 1 Comment

Why is it that your work invades your dreams sometimes? Dreams are supposed to pleasant and all that gooey stuff aren’t they? We recently have had people moving in and out of the area around us and they keep trying to claim offices and space that does not belong to them. This happened last year and my dream was sort of reiterating that except it was a new department and they had already broken into all my patient file cabinets carting records off to god knows where when I finally showed up. It was like I went on a rampage because I knew this department didn’t belong in the building I was in but yet there were all my files going bubye. I was trying to get a hold of someone in our main office as well as explaining to the buffoons who broke locks to get the files out that they were patient files and that if they did not have them locked up somewhere it was in HIPPA violation which they finally got and then was saying oh shit cuz they were just stacking them anywhere. Now mind you I have three 5-drawer file cabinets full of charts lol Then I woke up

Nothing Like

a little food poisoning over the weekend to help move it along. I can’t quite figure it out either because someone else ate the same food I did and didn’t get sick but whatever. I despise throwing up and had called my boss to get him to call me in some Phenergan to help out. Nothing like being so dehydrated to that you pass out. I think I was more keen on that than the puking. I couldn’t get my car fixed that day which I had planned to do. Guess I’ll try to do that this upcoming weekend and try to make sure I don’t eat anything awry.

The weathers finally warming up around here as we were getting into the 70s over the weekend and I at least got to enjoy that for 1 of the days. Still wasn’t up to par yesterday but I was hungry which was good.

This is coming to you live from 25 degree weather down in the south. This is insane!!

1. What’s the funniest sounding food or ingredient you know of?
It’s definitely some of the Asian cuisine but being put right on the spot I can’t think of any.
2. How do you pronounce “cavatelli”?
Not sure how to type it out here lol Cav-ah-telli like it looks I’m guessing. I’m guessing it is some sort of pasta.
3. How do you pronounce “gnocchi”?
No-ki is what I get but that might be a bit off. Never had any of this before.
4. Share a recipe that calls for mozzarella cheese.
About the only thing I use mozzarella for is my homemade pizzas. Just get the premade pizza dough and all your accoutrements to make the pizza including tons of mozzarella.
