Missing Christmas Gifts

Saturday, December 27th, 2008 | General, Personal with 2 Comments

You ever get somewhere and think for sure you bought a gift for that one person only to realize you never did and you are going to someones house for Christmas without a gift? I have done that and I really feel bad when it happens and almost always double check my gifts to make sure I have the appropriate gifts for everyone now. What do you do then? You go out the very next day the stores are open and get something for that person and give it to them. Luckily, everything is usually on sale even more than it was right before Christmas.

I’m always a last minute shopper though and I appreciate last minute gifts from Kmart. I was actually there Christmas Eve buying some jewelry (a chain necklace and butterfly charm) for my sister and a pair of jeans and some Joe Boxer undies for me. I will need to go back though and get a few more pair of jeans since they seem to be the only store with the stone washed Lee jeans. I mean did those really go out of style? They have all these jeans with freaky dark blue colors and streaks in them. Really? I also love shopping at Kmart because they have Martha Stewart. I don’t care what people say, she makes some great stuff and I go crazy buying kitchen things. I’ve actually been trying to clean mine up somewhat better and was thinking of some spice jars I could get and I’m sure I could get some pretty ones from her collection as well as some more microwavable bowls since I only have 1 left. Not really sure where the others went considering it is just me. 🙄

Cellphone Contracts

Saturday, December 27th, 2008 | Technology with Comments Off on Cellphone Contracts

Can someone tell me why it is that we have to get charged an arm and a leg if we want to cancel our crappy service and go to someone else who is better than what we currently have? I mean I was swapped from one vendor to another without even being asked and have to suffer with no internet service on an almost nightly basis and I can’t figure out why. I shut the phone off and on and once in a blue moon that works but overall it really ticks me off because I have this TrackID option on my phone where I just need to activate it when some music is playing, it takes a listen and then has to search the internet and spits out my options for me. I love, love, LOVE that feature and will definitely have to find a program to be able to do that with when I swap vendors and get me a Blackberry.

On another note, for all you poor souls drenched in snow, na, na, na because right now we have some nice temps here. I’ve been wearing shorts for the past 2 weeks. I really need to get out in the yard and finish cleaning up all the leaves I have but I have to buy probably 3 more stacks of leaf bags.

Family Movie Night

Saturday, December 27th, 2008 | General with Comments Off on Family Movie Night

As far back as I can remember I don’t think we ever had a family movie night. I actually don’t know why we didn’t either. I love watching movies and will go to a movie all by myself all the time. I love having the freshly made popcorn with something sweet to mix in with it. Most of the movies I end up watching are the mystery, comedy, horror, action, and even the comic book series ones to a point. I never really was a fan of Batman.

I think had we watched movies together as a family they’d probably be something we could all relate to, be a comedy, or be something that each of us could take something out of to heart. I’m not so sure watching movies just for the sake of a message would hit home for most and if the kids knew that was the only reason they were watching it, they’d be even more against it than when they when they started. You have to sell these types of movies to kids in my opinion. Like with All Roads Lead Home The Movie, I’d watch it just for the fact of the horses and the actors. Most kids would like it just for the horses and the ranch. I remember Jason London from his role as a priest and think he’s a pretty good actor. Who couldn’t not like Peter Coyote? There are some people that just belong in certain roles and I think he fills these type. Peter Boyle, everybody knows him as the cranky father in his most recognizable role in my opinion.
