I can’t wait for hurricane season. It’ll be hard to top a week without power, and 4 back-to-back storms. Go to love that warm ocean water.

Thanks for leaving a comment for me on my guest post at Searchin’…

Yeah hurricanes. I live in Polk County Florida… you know, the tiny county in FL that got hit by all four of the hurricanes. Right now we have rain… lots of rain… I consider that a happy exchange for wind and chaos.

Ooooo I’m looking forward to this. I rarely get hurricanes or earthquakes and I’m miles from any volcanoes so this is kind of a novelty for me.

Kind of like a documentary: When Mother Nature Attacks.

Only In Florida // July 8th, 2005 at 12:45 AM

I just heard on the news that Denis has already killed 4 people in Haiti.

The tourists have been ordered to leave the Florida Keys and the locals could be asked to leave tomorrow.

My daughter who lives in Ft. Lauderdale says that the TV stations are whipping people into a panicked frenzy.

All I can say is …

Pray for me, I live in Florida. (and I’m not asking for protection from the storm. If you visit my blog you’ll understand what I mean).

I love the picture. I understand hurricanes are destructive, and absolutely no laughing matter. But I think the risk is worth the reward of living by the ocean (if that makes sense).

Oh ya I won’t live anywhere where I can’t be near the ocean. That’s something I can’t and won’t give up.

Good thing I gave you that decisive last vote in the BOTB. :) I really think you deserved to win, because your blog is beautiful. I really enjoy your photos.
Have you by chance a photo of a tropical storm damaged front door :) ? I can use all kind of front door photos for my front doors blog. As long as they have character.

I moved from Florida to VA, and I hate it here. I’d move back even with all of the hurricanes, in a minute if it were that easy!

We don’t get hurricanes around the north sea.

    Nice picture!

I’ve never witnessed a hurricane, we rarely have them here in Europe. I’m counting my lucky stars too! I think the worst storm we had was back in 1977.

Ya, when I lived in Germany I didn’t see any storms like this except for those lousy snow storms which I hated. :/

I’m betting Florida gets fewer this year and one or two makes it up as far as New Jersey.

Hopefully Florida will catch a break this year, and not have to deal with all that trauma.

I’d guess it’d be better. That was the worst I can remember

    I like your blog.

btw. the hurricane didn’t strike Ft. Lauderdale as predicted, it actually made landfall atthe miami-dade.broward border and went westsouthwest. in any case, it is sure to be a bad one when it makes landfall in the northern gulf- possibly a cat5.

My family hast to fly out of Pensacola on Monday – the hurricane should be coming in Monday morning.

    Hope everyone’s plans go well.

My thoughts and prayers are with all those who are trying to eek out a living or a life in the devistation left by Ms Katrina… I am often amazed and facinated by storms, rarely am I sickened by them, Katrina has done just that…

    Surfing though Blog Explosion.

Had the “pleasure” of meeting Katrina for her first hit. She stayed right over us and pummeled us for hours. I do count my blessings, though, that she was a cat. 1 at the time…

Nice blog! I really like the color scheme.

Seemed like the frequency and ferocity of hurricanes and typhoons has increased. Likely due to global warming. Sure wished Bush did his bit for the environment by ratifying the Kyoto Protocol.

I hate living in miami. Here comes another stupid hurricane. The house smells like a seashell and the curtains are blowing, all by themselves, as if a ghost were shaking them.

This will be a bit of unsolicited advice, a kind which is usually ignored. But – I think this post should be moved the side bar. Having to always scroll down through a (mostly static) post about Hurricanes, well, it’s sort of frustrating. It’s your blog, of course :) , and if you really think it’s best left at the top then keep it there. I just think it would be cooler in a side bar someplace. Or maybe just put on top when you add something new.

It is hard to believe that this is all a coincidence. Hopefully this will give environmental issues more resonance at the next election.

Hurricane Wilma definitely took it’s toll on Ft. Lauderdale, so I don’t know why it’s only listed as SW of Key West. It pretty much affected all of South Florida.

This hurricane season has been crazy. One of the worst yet!
